Our in-plant veterinarians have an official position title of Veterinary Medical Officer (VMO), although they are commonly referred to by their working title of Public Health Veterinarian (PHV).

Hiring Incentives up to 25% of the Annual Salary are Available in Some Locations!
GS-11 positions: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), obtained at a veterinary college accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Council on Education. No post DVM experience required.
GS-12 positions: One year of progressively responsible professional veterinary experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level that demonstrates the ability to independently perform the veterinary medical duties required of the position. A Master’s degree, in addition to a DVM degree, is qualifying at this grade level.

Payment for Move to First Post of Duty is Available for all Veterinarian positions. U.S. Citizenship is required. Students can apply up to 9 months before the graduate.
