Fourth Installment of International Focus Series on Poland

Opens on November 2 and Fall Family Arts Festival on November 3

Boone, NC – Appalachian State University’s Turchin Center for the Visual Arts has a weekend of celebrations planned with the opening of a new exhibition on Friday and a Fall Family Arts Festival on Saturday!

About the Exhibition Celebration

The exhibition, which is the fourth installment of the International Focus Series: 21 Sztuka I-V: Contemporary Art of Poland titled Visible/Invisible. Print of the XXI Century. Jan Fejkiel Gallery Collection, opens in time for the center’s Exhibition Celebration during the November 2nd Downtown Boone First Friday Art Crawl.A special “Donors Only” preview will be held from 6-7 p.m. with doors opening for the public from 7-9 p.m. Admission is free and more information can be found at The Turchin Center will also host a free first Friday kids workshops for ages 6 & up titled Blazing Easelsfrom 3-4:30 p.m. For more information on Blazing Easels, visit

About the exhibition and Jan Fejkiel Gallery

The Jan Fejkiel Gallery, located in Cracow, Poland, was founded in 1991 by an art historian and is a contemporary art gallery specializing in print and drawing. The gallery owners, Jan Fejkiel and Maria Fuksa, are collaborating with the Turchin Center, and the artists they represent, to present an exhibition of contemporary graphics focusing on a variety of trends and movements. This exhibition will feature works by 24 Polish artists and will be located in the Main Gallery of the Turchin Center. Plans are in progress for the gallery owners visiting Boone for additional programming in early 2013. About Fall Family Arts Festival

Bring your family for a fun-filled day of arts and crafts at the Turchin Center for the first ever Fall Family Arts Festival! Activities will include projects using pastels, colored pencils, crayons, magic markers and scissor magic while exploring color, texture and design using a variety of mediums. The event will take place on November 3 from 12:30-3:30 p.m. in the Main Gallery of the Turchin Center. For more information visit

About the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts

The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts presents exhibition, education and collection programs that support Appalachian State University’s role as a key regional educational, cultural and economic resource.

The Turchin Center is located at 423 West King St., in Boone. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Tues.-Thurs. and Saturday, and Noon-8 p.m., Friday. The Center is closed Sunday and Monday, and observes all university holidays. There is no admission charge, although donations are gratefully accepted.
