The Berkeley Centre for the Humanities:Code of Behaviour

People using The Berkeley Centre for the Humanities will be subject to the Rules of the Library as laid down from time to time by the Governing Body, having consulted with the Academic Council and the Library Policy Committee.

Particular attention is drawn to the following:

  1. Any person using this area, if requested to do so by a member of the Library staff, must display or deposit details of identity.
  2. An authorised UCC ID card is required for access to this area.
  3. It is not permitted to swipe unauthorised users into this area.
  4. Authorisation is arranged with the Library through the CACSSS Graduate School.
  5. Food and drink may not be consumed in the area.
  6. Avoid loud conversations, music and other activities that disturb others.
  7. Mobile phone use is not permitted. This is restricted to designated areas on other floors of the Library.
  8. All Library materials consulted in this area should be issued to the reader and are the responsibility of the reader until such time as they are returned to a Library Issue Desk or Book Returns on Q.
  9. Reference material from the floors may not be left in this room, but must be returned to Q for re-shelving when leaving the Centre.
  10. It is not permitted to consult materials from Special Collections or Archives Services in this area.
  11. Please leave this room tidy and remove wastepaper etc. on leaving.
  12. Lockers are available to all users. They must be cleared out every day upon leaving the library. You are not permitted to leave Library books not checked out to you (including Reference Only books) in the lockers.
  13. Please do not leave valuables in the lockers, as the library cannot take responsibility for missing personal items.
  14. A reader who is absent from his/her reading place for 60 minutes or more shall be deemed to have vacated that reading place.

The Berkeley Centre requires special access and is controlled by an additional security swipe system. Your library card will be modified to provide you with access on completion of the application form below.

Access to the Berkeley Centre is valid for one academic year and must be renewed for the next academic year by re-applying to the Graduate School.
