Cary, N.C. – Ply Gem®, a leading manufacturer of exterior building products, has expanded The Designed Exterior Studio by Ply Gem visualizer tool on www.plygem.com with the addition of a new “MyHome” feature, allowing homeowners to upload a photo of their home exterior and discover the possibilities in a remodeled design or new build. Launched in 2012, The Designed Exterior Studio originated with a portfolio of more than 20 prevalent single-story, split-level and two-story home styles, with users selecting the home that most closely matches their own, then experimenting with new exterior colors and products including windows, siding, stone veneer, shutters, trim, roofing, entry doors and more. With the newly introduced “MyHome” feature, homeowners can now upload an image of their own home at an introductory price of $25 for an even more accurate visualization of an exterior renovation, or to generate ideas for a new build.
“The MyHome feature takes The Designed Exterior Studio tool one step further, giving homeowners more confidence in designing their dream home exterior,” said John Stephenson, senior vice president, marketing, Ply Gem. “In most instances, homeowners only have one chance to get the exterior design right; with MyHome, it helps take the guesswork out of color and product selection before the project begins and gives homeowners the opportunity to personalize and customize their design.”
After uploading an image of the home exterior, the photo is sent to a design professional to be mapped. During the mapping process, the designer uses tools to segment key areas of the home exterior, including windows, siding, trim, shutters, roof and entry door. The professionally mapped image is securely e-mailed back to the homeowners within 24 hours. Homeowners can then decorate the exterior with new colors and products, or send to a contractor, a friend or a family member – all of whom can create multiple design ideas on the home.

Homeowners can save their new home design in a project folder on the website for future access. The design can also be shared on Facebook and Pinterest, or e-mailed to a contractor with a full list of selected products.
