OUR LADY OF HOPE RETREAT

Join spiritual retreat director, Beverly Fournier for a three-day weekend retreat at Our Lady of Hope House of Prayer from September 19-21. This retreat will focus on exploring the gift of contemplative prayer. Learn how the traditional experience of monastic prayer called LectioDivina leads us to encounter God’s love in ways we never thought possible. God so desires for us and guides us to a meeting place with him in our deepest center, God’s life-giving dwelling place. The experience of contemplation is introduced to us by the power of God’s word who speaks to the intimate depths of our hearts through scripture, challenging and changing us in ways that are simply, “too deep for words.” The cost including registration fee is $140. Contact Sisters Rita Pay or Suzanne Rivard for more information and to register at (603) 878-2346 or at

INTERFAITH WOMEN OF NH

We are pleased to invite all women to our next event, Welcoming the Stranger: Serving the Immigrant Community. Join us on Monday, September 15 at St. Pius X Parish at 7 p.m. in the church hall. Registration begins at 6:15 p.m. and a tour of the church will be available at 6:30 p.m.The content of this program arises out of a common thread of diverse faith teachings on hospitality and concern for the needs of “strangers.” An interesting mix of local presenters will share perspectives on how our community engages with the immigrant/refugee "strangers"in our midst. The presenters all work closelywith immigrantsteaching English, providing psychotherapy and in community outreach. Additionally, the program will include some

participationbywomenofthe immigrant/refugee population. Conversation and refreshments will follow the program. Space is limited, so please RSVP to or call Veronica Molloy at 669-5076.

PARISH BOOK READ

UPDATE

Our parish book read, "Breakfast at Sally's" book discussion will be held on Tuesday, October 7 at 2 p.m. and at 7 p.m. Participants have the option of attending either meeting time. The discussion will be facilitated by Sister Pauline Maurier. While the book is available in many forms at many locations, I'm happy to report that the Manchester Public Library recently purchased the book specifically to accommodate our parish book discussion. In addition, it is a good book on a timely subject. Two copies appear to be "in", and a third copy may be requested and brought in from another nearbytown library. Additionally, there are several previously read copies of "Breakfast at Sally's" available on a first come, first serve basis in the sacristy. Homelessness is a national concern, as illustratedin a recent New Yorker Magazine captioned,"If you see something, say something!” Come share your thoughts about this book and the topic of homelessness. All interested persons are welcome to share this book and discussion by inviting a friend to come and participate as well.
