Meeting days:

Officially the meetings will begin on Monday morning, 29th September and will end on Friday afternoon 3rd October. The meetings of the Joint Working Groups 1 and 5 (and potentially ExTAG Ad hoc WG 1) are, however, scheduled for one day prior to the commencement of these meetings, Sunday, September 28th 2008.

A meeting of the UNECE WP6 will be held on Monday 29th September 2008 at, La Maison de la Chimie, as part of the IECEx 2008 series of meetings.

Registration at the meetings

The registration desk will be open at-

·  La Maison de la Chimie - 28, rue Saint Dominique - 75007 Paris

·  On Monday, October the 29th, from 7:30 am to 9:00 am

Accommodation

Delegates attending the IECEx series of meetings to be held in Paris, from 29th September to 3rd October 2008, are advised that they are required to book accommodation independently of the meeting venue, La Maison de la Chimie. To assist delegates Union Technique de l’Electricité, UTE, the meeting organisers, have supplied a list of hotels in close proximity to the meeting venue. (Annex A)

Please note: Delegates are expected to make direct contact with the hotels themselves to secure accommodation.

Food

Lunches may be taken at the many bistros/cafes within easy walking distance of the meeting venue. A Farewell Lunch with speeches by the meeting organisers will be held on Friday afternoon 3rd October 2008.

On Thursday evening, 2nd October, all delegates and their accompanying persons are invited by the host to a gala dinner, aboard the Excellence, a yacht of the Yacht of Paris (Gourmet dinner and cruise on the Seine. Venue to be advised

Arrival By air

Charles de Gaulle Airport

23 kilometers north east of Paris near the village of Roissy-en-France is Charles de Gaulle airport. It is the largest airport serving Paris. The Air France bus is an excellent option to reach the center of Paris. It leaves every 15-20 minutes during the hours of 05.40 - 23.00 and drops off passengers at Porte Maillot, Etoile/Place Charles de Gaulle, or Gare Montparnasse. The journey takes about 25 minutes if traffic is clear; an hour or more during rush hours.

Or take the RER: An RER/TGV station now serves the airport directly. Trains leave every 15 minutes during the hours of 05.30 and 23.00 to central Paris. The journey takes around 35 minutes to Gare du Nord.

Orly Airport

South of Paris (14 kilometers) near the town of Orly is Orly Airport. It has two terminals referred to as Orly-Sud (Orly South) and Orly-Ouest (Orly West).The Air France bus leaves every 15-20 minutes from during the hours of 05.40 - 23.00 and drops off passengers at Gare d'Austerlitz, Gare Montparnasse, or Gare St-Michel. The journey takes about 25 minutes.

Or take the Orly Bus - Service to and from Denfert-Rochereau Métro/RER stop (bus is next to the RER stop). Trains depart every 15 minutes; expect about 45 minutes travel time to Paris.

The Euro is the accepted currency. All major credit cards are accepted in France, in places displaying their logo at the entrance, though American Express and Diners Club are less easy to use.
