CONTENT
The content of the 4 units Ynys Hwyl a Sbri (The Island of fun and games) / Salad Ffrwythau (Fruit Salad) / Anifeiliaid yr Arctig (Arctic Animals) / Ogof Arthur (Arthur’s Cave) are as follows:
1 – Cân / Stori – Song / Story
§ Click on number 1 on the main menu the screen opens with two buttons ‘Cân’ (song), ‘Stori’ (story)
§ Click on the song button to hear the song and to watch an animation of the song.
§ Click on the story button. Use the red arrow on the right hand side of the screen to hear the title of the story. Click again to proceed to the next page.
§ Listen to the whole story or pause on each page to discuss each page.
§ There is also a red arrow on the left hand side of the screen which takes you to the ‘Cân / Stori’ main menu.

Activity 2: Mathematical Development
Adult Directed / Focused§ Introduce the directions for the arrows to guide the boat to the island to find the treasure. The boat will move one square at a time each time an arrow is clicked.
§ The number in the centre of the arrows denotes the level of difficulty on a scale of 1 – 5.
§ The rocks are there as an obstacle to create a more difficult path to the island to develop children’s thinking skills.

Activity 3: Creative Development
Adult Directed / Focused§ Listen to the instruction
Clicia, gwranda, gwna alaw, gwranda eto. / - / Click, listen, make a tune, listen again.
§ Screen opens with a picture of a steel drum and an empty options menu down the right hand side. The above instruction can be seen along the top of the screen.
§ The aim of the activity is to compose a simple melody.
§ Each of the six coloured circles that represents a different musical note.
§ By clicking on each individual circle your choice will appear in the options menu on the right hand side.
§ When the options menu is full a play button will appear on the screen and the melody composed can be heard.
§ By clicking on the play button again the melody can be heard again.
§ By clicking on the eto button the options menu is cleared and the instruction can be heard again.

Activity 4: Knowledge and Understanding of the World
Adult Directed / Focused§ Screen opens with a grid reference map with numbers along the bottom and letters down the left hand side.
§ A question can be heard and seen at the bottom of the screen.
Ydy’r trysor yn 4A? – Is the treasure in 4A?
§ The children must click on the corresponding square and a spade will appear and dig for the treasure in that square.
§ If correct the following answer can be heard and a coin will appear on the left side of the screen.
Ydy. Hwre! – Yes it is. Hooray!
§ If incorrect the following answer can be heard
Nac ydy. – No it isn’t.
§ The above can be repeated until the end of the game. The aim of the game is collect as many gold coins as possible.

Activity 5 - Game
Interactive counting game for children, similar to ‘Snakes and Ladders’.
Instructions how to play:§ Click on the die.
§ Barti Ddu moves along the board and stops on the corresponding number.
§ If Barti Ddu lands on a square with a ladder he automatically climbs the ladder.
§ If Barti Ddu lands on a square with a plank he automatically slides down.
Points to remember:
§ Encourage the children to participate in the activity.
§ Provide ample opportunities for individual children to use the above activity.
