More Information and Answers About APWH

What about these six weeks projects? What do we do?

The six weeks projects are always due on the first A day and first B day of the last week of the six weeks. These are open-ended projects—to a point. Please don’t bring food. I will explain why. Videos must be in good taste and relate to the topics being studied in class. With those exceptions, projects are very open-ended. If you would rather read and review a book about a historical topic, that’s fine, too. Movie reviews are a no-no unless some really monumental historically-based movie is released this year.

So, what CAN you do? Look around the classroom, and you will see posters, mobiles, painted ceiling tiles, models, collages, pamphlets, booklets, and about just about everything else that relates to history. If you have a question about whether something is suitable, ask me.

The time periods for each six weeks are:

·  First six weeks—Ancient dudes through fall of Rome

·  Second six weeks—Byzantine Empire, China, Medieval Europe, Rise of Islam,

·  Third six weeks—Reformation, Renaissance, Age of Exploration

·  Fourth six weeks—Age of Revolution, Industrial Revolution, Opening of Asia

·  Fifth six weeks—Imperialism, World War I, Road to World War II

·  Sixth six weeks—World War II, Cold War, end of history

When is the summer assignment due?

The summer assignment is due September 9(A Day) and September 10(B Day).

Can you guarantee that I will pass the AP World History exam?

No, I can’t guarantee it. I will get you ready, provide review opportunities, work on your essay writing skills, and do all sorts of nifty activities to prepare you. However, you have to do your part, too. Come in the mornings and work on review materials. Be sure to complete your assignments. Come to as many afternoon review sessions in the second semester as you can. Plan to take the AP World History practice exam (date to be announced). I will get you on the correct path in the right direction, but you have to actually walk the path. Profound, huh? Follow the Yellow Brick Road?

What else do you need to know?

I am here to help you. Never, never hesitate to ask me for assistance or to talk with me.
