A good article should consist of:

A TITLE

AN INTRODUCTION

THE BODY:

PAR.2 – Describe you city and talk about the city life

PAR.3 - Describe SOME recent changes

A CONCLUSION - Say why Barcelona is special for you.

Now, in details:

1. An eye-catching title, which attracts the readers’ attention and suggests the theme of the article. (Think about why you read a magazine or newspaper article recently - what made you read it?)

2. An introduction, which clearly defines the topic to be covered and keeps the reader’s attention.

Phrases you can use in the introduction:

REMEMBER:It’s asemi-formal/ informalpiece ofwriting,make itinterestingby includingadjectives and adverbs, phrasal verbs, relative clauses, linkers, interesting grammar points.

3. The main body (two paragraphs) in which the topic is further developed in detail.

What has happened after the Olympic Games in 1992?

  • A long beach was created
  • The Vila Olímpica was built for the athletes
  • The city has experienced a massive urban transformation. Modern constructions are visible everywhere (mention some of them)
  • Tourism has increased, new hotels and accommodation for tourists have been built
  • Transport has improved a lot (line 9 to the airport)

Phrases you can use in the 2nd and 3rd paragraph:

Giving a strong opinion

It’s absolutely stunning / terrible (strong adjective).

It took my breath away.

I will never forget it.

There’s nothing in the world like it.

Adding and developing ideas

4. The conclusion - Say why Barcelona is special for you.

In the last paragraphyou:

-finish with a sentence, which summarises what you have said

- end with an interesting last sentence

- give your opinion or express your feeling
