3. If this is a compilation of papers, how many contributors are anticipated (attach list of specific individuals if available)?

4. Proposed title. This should be descriptive to reflect the content of the book.

5. Please provide a brief synopsis of your proposed book. It should include the subject, level of treatment, why this book is necessary, and whether or not this is an emerging or mature subject. (Attach a separate page if necessary.)

6. Estimated length. Estimate the number of pages of the publication.

What are the estimated number of tables, line drawings, photographs, or other graphical elements?

What percentage of each chapter will be equations?

7. Manuscript completion and delivery dates. Estimate the date you expect to deliver the complete manuscript to AIAA.

8. Will there be accompanying problem sets? If not, how difficult will it be to create them?

Yes No

It is also very useful to prepare a solution manual for professor using a textbook, and it greatly increases the marketability of textbooks. Will you be able or willing to prepare a solutions manual?

Yes No

9. Will there be accompanying software? (This refers to executable software or supporting material and not the electronic format of the manuscript.)

Yes No

Please give the software and the formats that it will be available in (i.e., Mac, DOS, or Windows). Describe how you plan to give instructional information about the software—for example, as a regular chapter, in an appendix, electronic users guide, etc.

10. Software completion and delivery dates. Estimate the date you expect to deliver the completed software to AIAA.

11. Attach a detailed outline of the work’s content and purpose and at least two sample chapters.

12. Please list your book’s three most important features and how these features will benefit your readers.

Feature: A characteristic of the book.

Benefit: How that characteristic will be of value to the reader.

b) Organization. Explain how the presentation, logic, and progression of your materials and ideas from chapter to chapter will make it easier for the reader to use and benefit from the book.

c) Treatment: List examples of how you approach the subject matter in relation to the following:

Technical level:

Graphics:

Use of examples:

Case histories:

Specific applications:

Use of problems:

14. Please describe what is distinctive about your book and why readers would choose it over another publication on the same subject.

15. List any other books (include titles, authors, and publishers) on the market that are similar to yours or that you think may compete with or complement your work. (Indicate whether you view it as competitive or complementary.)

16. Would the topic of this book be suitable to teach in a professional development short course?

Yes No
