Summer camp 2016

04 January 2016

Dear Parents,

We are now well underway with organising our annual summer camp for 2016. This year we will be going to the CTT 2016 (Come To Tolmers) activity camp near London. This camp is attended by many groups from across the UK and is based atTolmers Scout Activity Centre near London. This camp promises to be filled with some great activities and will involve Scouts picking up to 4 activities to do every day, including: abseiling, archery, rifle shooting, backwoods cooking, canoeing, climbing, crafts, hiking, laser tag, bungee trampolines, zip line, quad bikes and swimming – to name but a few! There will also be lots of fun in the evenings with activities ranging from traditional camp fires and wide games to quizzes, comedy sketches and discos! We are also exploring the possibility of a day trip into London to see the sights!

The dates of the camp are Saturday 23rd July – Saturday 30th July 2016. We will be leaving on the Saturday morning and will be travelling in minibuses for the duration of the camp, returning the following Saturday afternoon – exact times to be confirmed.

The maximum cost of the camp will be £200 and will include all activities, accommodation and transport. We appreciate this is a significant amount but we also recognise that this is a fraction of the price of similar trips run through schools and believe it is an experience that the Scouts will remember for years to come. As we did last year, we hope to provide an opportunity for Scouts to fundraise part of this cost for themselves and hope you will support us with this – last year the Scouts managed to raise £30 each from one bag pack. We will confirm an exact cost before the balance is due.

We are asking for this camp to be paid in instalments:

-  A non-refundable deposit of £40 due by 29th January 2016.

-  A further £80 due by 24th March 2016.

-  The balance (upto £80) is then due by 27th May 2016.

You may of course pay in advance of the above dates. If you feel you may have difficulties in meeting these instalments please do come and see me or Emily and we will do our best to ensure all Scouts are able to attend and enjoy the camp.

For now, please return the attached reply slip with the £40 non-refundable deposit to secure your Scout’s place on the camp. This must be returned by 29th January at the latest.

Yours in Scouting,

Chris Rodaway
