Eagleville Elementary Home and School Meeting

Minutes for January 4, 2017

Attendance: Dr. Zanthia Reddish, Alison Navarrete, Michelle Campellone, Holly Bi, George Bi, April Maxwell, Lisa Krystofolski, Brenda Hackett

I.  Call to Order: the meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.

II.  Introductions

III.  Approval of December Minutes: motion to approve by A. Navarrete, second by G. Bi

IV.  Principal’s Report – Dr. Zanthia Reddish

a.  Thank you for the Holiday gift from H&S

b.  SWPBS: School Wide Positive Behavior Support:

i.  Teachers and Staff will be looking for specific behaviors to give positive reinforcement.

ii. Looking at the more unstructured areas to implement: hallways, cafeteria, recess

iii.  Had to make changes at recess: physical contact (aggression, word, thoughts) coming out more during recess. Working with recess staff on this. Staff is working on identifying the specific areas where students may be during recess to confine them for better supervision. The main focus is to have recess be a safe place.

iv.  Also working with PE staff to teach recess games so that the students can reinstitute it during recess as well.

c.  Many students are coming in after 9:05. Parents must bring in students through LobbyGuard and sign them in.

d.  Lost and Found: Make sure you check and being donated next week. A Remind message was sent out Wednesday.

e.  Benchmark testing will be done at the end of January. New Team Time tier will be sent out in early February.

f.  Lisa K. inquired about the new Math curriculum. Adjustments have been made to meet the needs of the students at this time. Cindy Golden and other liaisons are working with students and staff to make sure the necessary materials are taught prior to PSSAs. More students struggling in Math this year because there are some gaps. Administration is aware.

V.  President’s Report – Loren Seamans

Happy New Year! I apologize for not be able to attend tonight's meeting.

- Lifetouch will be the new distributor for Eagleville's yearbook. The contract has been approved by the district and we will go forward with planning. If there is anyone interested in helping with the layout or has pictures to add please contact myself via email.

- Winter festival went very well. I would like to thank all of the homeroom captains and volunteers for their hard work in making it a huge success! The crafts were distributed to homeroom captains prior to the event and I came in under budget. The extras were supplied to the office in the event there was a child who could not attend the Holiday Sing along.

- The board has decided going forward that there should be a meeting between all committee chairpersons and the board to explain new MCC requirements for events as this is a transitional year and there is new criteria implemented by the MCC due to our nonprofit status.

- The Special Education Alliance is holding another event onJanuary 30th at 7pmin the Methacton High School Library. The topic is Executive Function and the speaker will be Theraplay. They will be discussing what executive functioning is, red flags to look out for, how deficits are assessed, and treatment strategies. Theraplay, INC provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy, feeding and concussion rehabilitation programs, special instruction, and early intervention and school services. The SEA is a newly formed group by the MCC and has monthly meetings that range in topics. VI.  VP Report – Holly Bi

a.  Methacton Coordinating Council (MCC) meeting will be on January 9th.

i.  “Up Close and Personal” will be at monthly Methacton School Board Meetings. Each school will be assigned a month and will do a short presentation about the happenings at the school. Eagleville will be presenting this month on Tuesday January 24th.

b.  There will be a School Board meeting on Tuesday January 10th at Arcola Auditorium to discuss redistricting. Parents are encouraged to attend. Another meeting will be held in February.

VII.  Treasurer’s Report: George Bi

a.  There was an adjustment to the Holiday Shoppe total: $4226.66 is the final deposit. There was an error made by the bank teller.

b.  There are no material changes to the budget.

c.  Mr. Keiffer’s prior mini grant needed an adjustment with the total. It was around $25 more than previously expected.

VIII.  Teacher’s Report – Alison Navarrete

a.  Winter Festivals went very well. Thank you to all who helped out and for the crafts.

b.  Mrs. Pashley is looking for parent volunteers to help out with the Science Fair.

i.  Possibly asking for a $300 mini-grant to fund the Science fair.

IX.  Committee Coordinator Report – April Maxwell

a.  Family Movie Night Jan 13th: Kelly Alexander and Tracy Courtney are co-chairs

i.  Presale: $3; at the door $4: $1 for additional snacks

ii. Doors open at 6 pm; Movie begins at 6:30

iii.  Budget $350

b.  Spring Pictures: Feb 17th

c.  Family Game Night: April 7th (Lisa Krystolofski chair)

d.  4th grade Picnic (Kara LaFreeda) same day as the spring concert- we are looking to move the date for the picnic

a.  Mrs. Brown- Reimbursement for her teacher allowance

b.  2nd grade Polar Express Mini Grant
