WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY

TOPS WALK-EAST – held at East Park in El Dorado, KS on Saturday August 28th. Hosting chapter was KS 0819 El Dorado. We had a great turnout with 40 participants and a total of 6 chapters represented. Beautiful fall type morning with a ½, 1, 1 ½ or 3 mil routes to walk. Each participant left the walk with a bag of goodies from various business establishments in El Dorado. THANK YOU to those who came out for a great day.

TOPS WALK-WEST – to be held at Dillon Nature Center, Hutchinson, KS on September 18th. Hosting chapter will be KS 0153 Hutchinson. This chapter has contacted multiple businesses in Hutchinson who have graciously given them gifts for door prize drawings. They will have multiple walking routes INCLUDING one for the handicapped walkers (canes, walkers, wheelchairs, etc.) Registration is at 9 AM and the walks begin at 9:30. Door prize drawings begin at 10:45. Come join us for the walk and then you can finish off your day by maybe attending the KS State Fair before you go home.

FUN DAY – Saturday, October 16th – at Faith Baptist Church Annex, 417 W. Central Avenue, Andover, KS. Host chapter KS 0993, El Dorado will be furnishing a meal of Fiesta Taco Soup and Gaucho Vegetable for $5.00 ea. Registration is $3.00 making a grand total of $8.00 per person attending. This is our award day for all chapters in my area. (Weight recorders/leaders – form attached – deadline for return is September 30th. Don’t cause someone to not get an award because your form is late.) Theme for this year is TOPS FIESTA. We will have awards, of course, for achievements from 1/1/10 thru 8/31/10 and the Tortoise & Hare Commitment to Excellence contest, a name tag contest, costume parade, small piñata design, a skit and special announcements. Promo items left from SRD will also be on sale. As stated above, this year there will be a choice of entrée. When you register, you MUST SPECIFY which soup you wish to have. Tickets will be given out for what you requested.

GROUP MEETINGS FOR AC POWER POINT-STRESS MANAGEMENT – Big thank you to the chapters who so graciously combined together for group meetings so that I could get all of my chapters visited before year end. I know there are a few yet to be held, and I thank you ahead of time for your efforts in attending.

HEALTH FAIRS – COME BACK MEETINGS – OPEN HOUSES – Many of you have already had one, two or all 3 of these events in your chapter. THANK YOU. The rest of you, I’m waiting on your reports and/or dates to be held.

CITY FALL FESTIVALS – These are a great opportunity for your chapter to get free publicity. How about a float design, a group of members walking with a TOPS banner or a drink refreshment stand for festival goers? Maybe a money making project for your chapter of just plain publicity. Think about it. September & October are the moths these events take place. Please give me your dates and what you are doing. I would like to attend as many as possible. You get credit for these and I do to.

KOPS SOCIETIES – The South Central KOPS Society will be reforming soon. Most likely it will be meeting in Hutchinson in lieu of Inman as in the past. This society will be for all KOPS in Hutchinson and surrounding cities. Watch for questionnaire coming out soon with more information.

The KOPS Annual Tea was held in Wichita on August 14th. Our state royalty, international royalty and international division winners were our guest speakers. We had 80 KOPS from the Sedgwick county chapters and South Central KS (my area) in attendance.

SRD 2011 – Theme “Move & Groove – 70”s Style” With TOPS we are “stayin’ alive”! Put this date April 29-30, 2011 on your calendar now and plan to attend. Location is Wichita, KS. Hotel will be announced when the SRD packet is mailed in December or January. Begin to come up with ideas now as to what your chapter will do for the Dress to Theme contest. You can pick from music, sitcoms, books, personalities,etc. There are ever-so-many different avenues you can choose from.

IRD 2011 – Theme “Happy Days with TOPS” July 7-8-9-2011 in Milwaukee, WI. Milwaukee is the home of “The Fonz” and the Cunningham Family. Come join us for rock & roll time.

2 exceptions to this rule: Most Inspirational and Chapter Ambassador do not have to be present to win.
