Joni Phelps is one of those women who know what courage is all about. Throughout her life, Phelps had enjoyed hikes and adventures. However, Phelps lost their eyesight almost twenty-five years ago. She has relied on a guide dog and his sense of sight ever since. In addition to her dog, Phelps depends on her family and their constant, undivided support. One winter, Phelps, together with her two grown sons, began preparing for a dream come true. They began lifting weights and practicing his rock climbing skills. All of the work was worth it. Phelps, accompanied by her sons, was the first visually impaired woman to climb Mount McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America. Anyone who has climbed Mount McKinley has had their own hardships with the sheer, rocky cliffs and the sudden thunderstorms. However, with a strong group of supporters and guides, many climbers have succeeded. Neither Mike nor Marty Phelps let the danger keep them from helping Joni achieve her goal.
