Project Synopsis: Provide branding design, select building renderings, and a map showing a conceptual vision of the AED to be later used by the city to engage/spark a public visioning process.
What is the Final Product Output for this Project? :
1) Stylized map of entire AED area that shows the various aspects of its activities such as: (Examples)
Exterior Shone Through Open Roofs
· Marquee of the AED Farmers indoor market
· Outdoor eating Dueling piano bar
· Outdoor crafts Art Gallery
· Street performers Dinning
· Outdoor concert Stage performance
· Outdoor movie Dinner with live music
· People walking Yoga class
· People boating Art, pottery, classes
· The Marina and boats Art/live space
· The Washington Street Bridge Cooking class
2) Provide renderings of a couple of select signature buildings (such as the historic Odd Fellows Hall) and present them fully renovated and as they would be seen in their new role within the AED. An example could be having a line of people purchasing tickets at a ticket window to a dinner/play that advertises with a marquee on the building.
3) Branding ideas including:
· Place making via sculpture and other outdoor, large scale art such as a signing wind arch, or a path of sails on poles that lead from the neighborhood to the waterfront
· Marquee filling the entire space between the overpasses at the end of exit #4 showing the details of the branding such as stylized font, color schemes, artistic direction indicators, slogan, and logo.
Designated Support from Staff/Volunteers: The staff in the Planning and Community Development offices will be available to assist students with accessing information that the city has that will support this project.
