Matters arising
None
The Wandle Project
Cecile updated everyone on the progress of the project. She and DeNica were attending a meeting of the Wandle Forum later this week and will report back in due course.
South London Waste Plan Consultation
Various residents had copied Iain with their responses. Iain had received an acknowledgment from Emma Smyth and had confirmed to her that the WPRA as a body would not be responding, only individual residents.
AGM 2009
Everyone agreed the AGM had been a success. Richard Oxborrow from the AELTC had been an interesting and amusing speaker. The turnout had been excellent with a full house. Probably the best for quite a while. The food and drink afterwards had been very generously sponsored by Aaron Abraham at Edward Jones.
Christmas Lights
Douglas Dallimer had been hard at work collecting money from local businesses and was having some success. The neighbourhood dinners at Dalchini were attracting good support and Veronica said she had raised about £900. A terrific effort by her. It looked like to full amount of £3000 needed was going to be raised. The lights are scheduled to be in place by the 28th November.
Newsletter
The copy date was past but articles were still needed. Judith offered to supply a couple of Christmas related articles. Bernadette had supplied an article and a French Quiz. Cecile and Nigel also were supplying articles. The size of the newsletter will be 40 rather than 44 pages due to reduced advertising.
Website
It was agreed that some updating needed to be done.
Wimbledon Park Club
It seemed clear that not many people were bothering to write to object to the license application. Iain emphasised again that it was up to the local neighbours to lodge their complaints
Wimbledon Park Hall
A report written by Howard Joy had been received by Iain from Diane Neil Mills and circulated to the committee. The report was unsatisfactory in several respects and, after consultation with the sub committee Iain had replied. A copy of that reply is attached to these minutes. Subsequently Iain had received an email from Cllr Samantha George indicating that she was taking over the responsibility of this project from Cllr Diane Neil Mills. She suggested a meeting in a couple of weeks she had been further advised and updated by Officers. In the meantime a meeting had taken place at Ibex House between Shaukat Hussein members of his family and Nigel Husband with Howard Joy, Derek Oakley and other officers to discuss the current position and look for a way forward. The general tenor of that meeting, according to Shaukat, had been positive and they were waiting for a response from Howard Joy, as promised at that meeting.
To date there had been no response from Cllr George to Iain or from Howard Joy to Shaukat Hussein.
The Fair 2010
After some discussion it was agreed that the Fair would go ahead. Iain would take the project forward on the basis that a core management team would be established. Based on the experience of DeNica, over the past two years, and the comprehensive files she had kept the task should be capable of some streamlining.
Treasurer’s report
Nothing particular to report
Chairman’s Report
Nothing additional to report
AOB
Judith raised the issue of disabled access to Wimbledon Park Station. It was greed that something should go in the next newsletter raising the issue and asking people to respond.
Helena raised the issue of local road safety and enforcement of the 20mph limit. It was suggested she pursue this with Cllr Ahmad.
Next meeting. January 12th 2010
