IEEE South Australia Section Outstanding YoungVolunteer Award

This award, supported by IEEE South Australia Section, is given to recognize extraordinary achievements by amember of the IEEE South Australia Section aged 35 or less, who is engaged in activities conforming to IEEE objectives and purposes. These would include, for example:

  • significantly improving the vitality of an IEEESection, Chapter, or Affinity Group with regard to activities, membership, or finances;
  • effective interaction of the Section, Chapter, or Affinity Group with the local Section or Region, or IEEE technical societies, e.g., seminars, conferences;
  • community involvement that benefits the school and/or the community, the image of the IEEE, and the image of engineering in general.

Nomination deadline: October 15. The nomination to be emailed by any member (higher than student member) of IEEE South Australia Sectionto the IEEE South Australia Section Vice-Chair, email: . The Nomination Form must be completed by a Proposer and Seconder who are familiar with the work and the contribution of the candidate. Both Proposer and Seconder must be IEEE members of any membership grade. The nominations must be made through the SA Section Vice-Chair, who must endorse the Nomination Form for consideration by the Award Committee. The members of the Award Committee shall be appointed by the Chair of IEEE SA Section (Note: theChair of the Award Committee may act as Proposer or Seconder).

  • TheAward Committee shall not make an award to more than one candidate at any one time.
  • The decision of the Award Committee will be final.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Award:

(a) The candidate must be a any gradeof IEEE member, excluding student member,aged 35 years or less immediately prior to the Award

(b) The candidate's volunteer work is, or has been, on behalf of a Section, Chapter or Affinity Group. The candidate must have been active for at least 2 years in the IEEE South Australia Section and is not currently the Section Chairperson.

(c) The candidate has received no remuneration from the Section for their volunteer work except reimbursement of expenses incurred in carrying out the volunteer work.

Previous winners of the IEEE South Australia Section Outstanding YoungVolunteer Award are not eligible.

Nature of Award

The IEEE South Australia Section Outstanding YoungVolunteer Award will be in the form of a certificate signed by the incumbent IEEE South Australia Section Chair.

Presentation of Award

One Award will be selected and presented to the winner at the IEEE South Australia Section Outstanding YoungVolunteer normally held in October/November during the Distinguish Lecture Dinner.
