In this context ‘Norfolk-based’ means the organisation has its registered office in Norfolk or delivers the majority of its services in Norfolk. ‘VCSE organisation’ means any registered or unregistered charity, any community interest company, any IPS or similar registered society fulfilling the ‘societies for the benefit of the community’ definition, and community associations that have a governing document containing a clear public benefit purpose operating on a non-profit basis.
Elected members are selected through the following procedure:
- Candidates’ are invited to prepare a statement setting out their suitability with at least ten working days in which to return their statement
- Candidates’ statements are made available to the sector at least ten working days before voting takes place.
- VCSE organisations are able to vote for up to five candidates. There is one vote per organisation and organisations may only vote for each candidate once.
- The five candidates with the most votes are appointed. In the event of a tie, a second run-off vote will take place between the tied candidates.
- In the event of there being fewer than 5 candidates, the candidates will become members without a vote taking place.
- Voting may take place in person or electronically as agreed by the Sector Leadership Group and communicated to the VCSE sector at least twenty working days ahead of voting taking place
