DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC HEALTH
(OCCUPATIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH)
SENIOR LECTURER/ LECTURER
Qualifications • MBCHB (NQF 8) PLUS Occupational Health Degree (NQF 7) and/ (Point 3 and 4 below), Environmental Health degree (NQF 7) • Master of Public Health Medicine (NQF 9) will be an added advantage
Experience:
· Minimum of 4 years’ experience in teaching and administration and 1 year of doing research.
Key Performance Areas:
· Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the department of Public Health.
· Prepare and regularly update course material for lectures responsible for.
· Examine students on lectures responsible for.
· Guide and supervise postgraduate (Master’s) students on research activities.
· Coordinate student programmes as required.
· Participate in departmental activities as required: including research, continuous professional development, community engagement, strengthening and further development of department.
· Administer and coordinate departmental activities as delegated.
Skills and Competencies:
· Experience with the South African Health system
· Lecturing/ teaching experience.
· Proposal writing (research and /or funding).
· Academic report writing and writing for non-academic audience.
· Administration and coordination of events/activities.
· Conducting research.
· Experience in effectively communicating with senior officials (both in government and private sector).
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Well organised and able to work under pressure
· Enthusiastic for continuous improvement and development.
