MC R-2 BOE Report

COMMUNICATION SECTION

Quentin Foote, Audrey Gibson, and Jacob Hall represented Elementary Student Council. Middle School Student Council was represented by Mason Bammer, Sophia Davis, Alaina Poppa, and Aviree Roup. High School was represented by President Joeigh Eaton and Vice President Kameron Freemyer. Each Council representative described their activities and responsibilities.

Mrs. Shelley Eaton and Mr. Derek Petty discussed their classrooms and extra-curricular activities.

Mr. Eaton discussed the Food Service program evaluation.

Mr. Eaton reported Apple Bus provides transportation for the district and Manager Richard Corbin does an excellent job working with the school district.

CONSENT AGENDA

The board approved the minutes of the November 16th, 2016 meeting as well as the financial report.

NEW BUSINESS

The board approved policy updates to policies 2315 student attendance and 4750 administrative leave of absence. Both policies were mandatory.

The board accepted a resignation/retirement effective August 1st from Mrs. Deborah Loucks. She has been awesome for the school district the last 44 years!

ITEMS FOR INFORMATION

Mrs. Hall mentioned the sixth and eighth grade students attended Eagle Days at Squaw Creek Refuge, the MS/HS Concert went very well and the Elementary Program will be this evening. The students have collected food and have put together thirteen Christmas gift baskets to be delivered the last day of school before Christmas Break. The teachers will have in-service work on January 2nd. A representative from the regional professional development council visited the building this week and was very impressed with the staff development and student achievement.

Mr. Miles reported the FFA, FCCLA and FBLA are working on an event called “Escape Room” for an activity coming soon. The students will have to work together in problem solving and clue finding. FFA Fruit Sales are finishing up, FCCLA Star Events are starting and one event group will present a program on Distracted Driving on the last day before break. This was finals week and the JH Boys just completed an undefeated basketball season! JH Scholar Bowl will have a mock meet tomorrow and will start their one month season in January.
