LASER SPINE INSTITUTE EXPANDS NATIONAL FOOTPRINT

WITH NEW HOUSTON SURGICAL CENTER

-- New facility brings minimally invasive treatment options closer to home for Texas patients suffering from neck and back pain --

July 2013 (THE WOODLANDS, Texas) – Laser Spine Institute, the leader in minimally invasive spine surgery, welcomes patients to its newest outpatient surgical center in the Houston area. The first surgery was performed at this facility on July 22.

The facility in The Woodlands, a suburb of Houston, becomes Laser Spine Institute’s fifth surgical center. LSI is headquartered in Tampa, Fla., and has surgical centers in Tampa, Scottsdale, Ariz., Oklahoma City and Philadelphia, providing patients with a safe and effective alternative to open back surgery since 2005.

“Our decision to open a surgical center in the Houston area stemmed from a growing demand by patients in Texas,” said Bill Horne, CEO of Laser Spine Institute. “In order for Laser Spine Institute to continue delivering care that keeps our patients and their struggle with back pain at the heart of what we do, it’s necessary to provide services to regions where we are needed most.”

More than 80 percent of the U.S. population suffers from back or neck pain, according to The Consumer Reports Health Ratings Center. This expansion will help to accommodate the growing need of patients seeking minimally invasive, outpatient treatment options and personalized care for their back ailments.

Laser Spine Institute treats debilitating neck and pain, including spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, pinched nerves, bone spurs, bulging/herniated discs, scoliosis and sciatica. As an endoscopic, outpatient procedure, patients have the benefit of a smaller incision and less blood loss contributing to lower infection rates, lower complication rates and quicker recovery times.

Michael Weiss, D.O., FAOAO, Chairman, Department of Surgery and orthopedic surgeon, performs the minimally invasive spine surgery procedures at the Houston-area center. Dr. Weiss leads the surgical component of Laser Spine Institute’s surgery centers and oversees the proprietary fellowship training program for new surgeons.
