A Note from the Preschool Director: Cindy Wilton October 2016

Box of Joy

We are participating in a program with which you may be familiar. You can read more info about this on the poster at the sign in/out desk with Mrs. Monique. You can also visit the website at www.crosscatholic.org/boxofjoy

Our preschool will prepare one shoe box per class for a total of 4 shoe boxes. Two shoe boxes for girls and two for boys. We are asking for small donations of trinket sized toys for boys or girls to fill the shoe boxes and $1.00 from each family to pay for shipping. (Each shoe box costs $9 to ship.) You may donate for a girl if your SMCP student is a girl and donate for a boy if your SMCP student is a boy. Collections will be now through Oct. 14. Sunday school classes are participating as well, but we want to participate as a preschool for our service project. J Thank you for any help!

CAPP Training-“Safe Environments”

Thank you for continuing to help us finish up CAPP training. If you still have not renewed online, DO NOT DELAY. We have a field trip coming up! If you did not get trained any of the sessions and you plan on attending field trips to assist with other children or volunteering in the school, please see Mrs. Wilton for information about getting trained.

The parent training is part one of the Program for the Protection of Children and Adolescents. It was developed by the Archdiocese of Mobile in the pastoral effort to respond to a heightened need for the protection of our children. Part two of the program is to include the PK4 children in a religious class where the children are given strategies on how to protect themselves. Since parents are the primary teachers, an integral part of the program will be to provide the parents with information to help their children remain safe. We are sending information for you to read and discuss with your PK4 children the week of Oct. 23. Please look for it that week in the take home folders.

Fire Safety and Auburn Pep Rally

Sometime during the month of October, we will talk about Fire Safety. A Fire Truck will visit our school. We will also have a Pep Rally with Aubie and the cheerleaders. We are still in the process of getting these scheduled. More info will be in your child’s class newsletter!

Field Trip Coming Up!

Wed., Oct. 19 for PK 3 and Thurs., Oct. 20 for PK4/KG

We are scheduled for a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch! Before we can go on the trip, there are several things we need to do:

1.  Please check the MEDICAL INFO sheet at the sign in/out desk for ACCURACY and have Ms. Monique help you with any changes on the sheet.

2.  Complete the Field Trip Form and return as soon as possible.

3.  Be sure to tell us how your child will be traveling to the Pumpkin Patch.

If you have any questions, please ask any of the SMCP staff.

Picture Money

Please remember to get any unwanted pictures or picture money returned. We need to turn this in to Photo Memories by Friday, Oct. 7.

Fall Break - Oct. 17

Remember there is no school on Monday, Oct. 17. It is a fall break day for Auburn schools and for us, too!

Halloween Parties

Your child’s teacher will include information about our Halloween Parties in the classroom newsletter. Please remember no costumes or masks. Everyone is welcome to come to school that day in PAJAMAS! J

Parent Conferences in November

Teachers will begin making conference appointments during the later weeks of October for a November conference date. If your scheduled time does not work for you, please discuss an alternate time with your child’s teacher. During the conference, teachers will share the SMCP assessment form. Keep in mind that we use this assessment to help the individual child make progress from “Point A to Point B.” Every child is different. We are challenging your child individually, and the assessment is a “road map” to help us when we work with your child. The teachers will explain how they are currently using the assessment and how she will use it through the year.

Peace and prayers to each and every SMCP family! We love you!
