General description
This light wand has four LED bulbs built into its tubular, metallic frame - providing super bright lighting for all areas of your home. It is ideal for placing in dark cupboards and wardrobes to help provide more light. In larger areas you may need more than one light wand.
Supplied with a two-way stand, which allows for dual purpose storage, this light wand can either be positioned upright using the magnet within the stand, or it can be laid down. The light can be attached to the inside of a cupboard, for example, using the adhesive patch on the back. The light wand can then be simply rotated 360-degrees when within the stand to move the lighting to where you want it - providing optimum brightness all the time.
Using lighting correctly, wherever you need it, can make a big difference to the amount you can see. For more advice and general tips on lighting and getting the most out of your portable light, you can visit RNIB’s website or order our factsheet on Improving lighting in your home (code IP412).
Orientation
Light wand
The LED light wand is a silver-coloured metallic tubular product which is approximately 23cm (9 inches) in length. Along the wand, positioned evenly apart, are four LED bulbs.
At one end of the wand is a white, soft-tipped button, which is slightly raised in texture. Simply press this to turn the LED's on and off.
The other end is more flat to the touch and has a slight recess within it (which contains a magnet for use within the stand). This end is a white cap which can be unscrewed to remove the inside parts of the wand (which includes the LED bulbs and the battery compartment), and is also the end which should go into the stand if you choose to position it vertically.
Two-way stand
The plastic two-way stand is approximately 6.5cm (2.75 inches) in diameter and has a deep, recessed area in the middle. Within this recess is a small magnet. The stand allows for the wand to be positioned vertically using the magnet (within the stand's recess) and on the flat end of the wand. The wand can also be laid down horizontally within this recess, and the stand can then be attached to a flat surface, such as inside a cupboard, using the adhesive on the back. The wand can be rotated 360-degrees whether it is positioned in a vertical or horizontal position - providing light wherever you want it.
Getting started
Inserting/replacing batteries
Turn the flat end of the wand anti-clockwise until the small, white cap containing the magnet comes away. Then, pull the other end out and away from the silver coloured, tubular frame until you have completely removed the white, plastic inners of the light wand, which has the four LED bulbs built into it and where the three AAA batteries are positioned.
Insert each AAA battery into the battery space between each LED bulb, positioning the negative (flat) end of each battery against the spring within the battery holder. When all three batteries are in place slide the white, plastic inners of the light wand back into the silver, tubular frame until it clicks into place and the soft-button end can go no further. Ensure at this time that the four LED bulbs are positioned within the four holes in the tubular frame and then re-attach the small white cap to the open end of the frame and turn it clockwise until it is tight.
Using the product
Turning on/off
Simply press the white soft-button and release, you will hear a double-click sound, and the LED lights will come on. Press and release the same button again until you hear another double-click and the LED lights will turn off.
Positioning the light wand
Vertical position
Position the two-way plastic stand on a flat surface and then put the flat end of the light wand into the centre of the stand's recess. The wand can rotate 360-degrees to suit your best position.
Horizontal position
Using the two-way stand for its other purpose, peel off the adhesive cover on the base of the stand and then affix the stand to a flat surface, such as the inside of a cupboard or a place where extra light is needed, using the adhesive label. Then, position the light wand into the stand's recess in a horizontal position. The wand can rotate 360-degrees to suit your best position.
