Akatarawa Forest Block

NOTE: Kapi-Mana Motorcycle Club - event to be held Sunday 27th

September 150 motorbikes and quad bikes

·  Tobins Limited – Pylon maintenance (blasting and painting) will be carried out during the year (weather dependant) by Tobin’s Ltd. Vehicles and crew will be entering and exiting Maungakotukutuku gate

·  Akatrack Wellington – walk concessionaire will be operating in the Akatarawa Forest. Walkers will enter Karapoti, Hukinga Valley and exit Cederholm Creek

·  Electrix Limited – is working in conjunction with United Group on the Pylons off Hydro Road

·  Police dog training school – will be ongoing on the roads within the Valley View area, Valley View Forest

Puketiro Forest Block

·  United Group/Tobins Limited – Line maintenance (blasting and painting) will be carried out during the year (weather dependant) by Tobin’s Ltd. Vehicles and crew will be entering Cooks Rd, Puketiro Rd and exiting Cooks Rd

·  Adjoining Land Owner – Graham Peck will be accessing private property via Cooks Rd and Puketiro Rd

·  B Hall – Tractor/haymaker access to Dude Ranch via Bulls Run Rd for haymaking

Pakuratahi Forest Block

·  Police dog training school – will be using the Maymorn forest for ongoing training entering and exiting via Gabities

·  Horse riding ongoing – route through Maymorn, Tunnel Gully, Station Drive, Kaitoke Hill Track and Pylon Loop Track

·  Rimutaka Incline Railway Heritage Trust – Will be using the Maymorn gate to access private land

Valley View Forest

·  Log 36 now based at southern end of Boiler Gully. (9.0km Lindsay’s Road)

·  Log 6 remains at 8.5km Valley View Road

·  Some commercial firewood contractors are now using large trucks – take care during weekends.

·  No logging at present

·  Silviculture crew working

Whakatikei Forest

·  Rifle Range open for normal use

Mangaroa Forest

·  Harvesting crew working with access through O’Reilly’s

NOTE: Logging trucks are now only operating between Valley View and Totara Park

We have had complaints from the logging truck drivers about opposing heavy vehicles

Please ensure all heavy vehicles entering Valley View are advised of the logging truck movements

We have had incidents of vandalism to contractors gear. Please be alert for unauthorised personnel within the forest blocks

All vehicles MUST give way to loaded logging trucks
