GROVE CITY COUNCIL EMERGENCYMEETING June 12th, 2017 @ 7:00 PM MEMBERS PRESENT- Martin, Peterka, Halterman, Renne, Nelson

Clerk:City Clerk Clark informed the council that she was down at the office for residents to be able to stop in with their questions and concerns, but she couldn’t answer phones due to no electricity.

Public Works: Gaarder informed the council that the lift station is being run by the generator; he will fill the water tower nightly. There is a generator out at the sewer plant so that’s up and running. Doug and Dustin have spent the last two days cleaning up debris, and Brad has been out checking all of the lines. Transmission lines are down, and that is why the town has no electricity. He believes everything should be restored on Tuesday.

Sheriff: Swisher talked to the Chief Deputy and informed the council that while he is not working, there will be additional patrol through the town. If anyone sees anything suspicious or has a concern please call the Sheriff’s Office.

Halterman: Council member Halterman said that he thought the town has done a good job of getting everything cleaned up quickly.

Renne: Council member Renne informed the council that Litchfield is up and running, and asked whether it is an option to have them try and help us out.

Nelson: Council member Nelson said that he was told that Xcel Energy was planning on having the poles needed on Monday evening.

Martin: Mayor Martin said that the town needs to do more research on what we can do when we lose electricity. Martin stated that he thought Dustin, Lacey, Brad, and Doug have done a great job during this situation.

Martin also said that the city was able to get a generator going for the residents at South Grove. If any residents need to come up and cool off, or use refrigerator space, they are more than welcome. The generator will be taken away and used at the water plant to refill the tower each night though.

Fire: Chief Jans informed the council that the fire department tried numerous times to set off the emergency siren. They tried the manual backup but weren’t able to set them off.

Council member Peterka made a motion to reschedule June’s council meeting. The council meeting will be rescheduled for Monday, June 19th at 7 pm. Halterman seconded the motion. Motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT Peterka made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Nelson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
