  1. Narrative Description

This building is the rectory for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church located across the street to the east of the rectory. This dwelling was built in the 1890s-early 1900s and reflects influence from the late Queen Anne style of architecture. The porch further reflects some influence from the Craftsman style of architecture in the tapered half-height posts on brick piers. The house is two stories in height and has a hipped roof with lower cross-gabled ells. The front ell is a rounded two-story bay with a gabled dormer that features decorative shingle siding and a half-round or lunette attic window. Other details of note include the brackets under the eaves of the front-gabled bay and the circular details on the friezeboard of the house. The windows are 1/1 double-hungs. The only modification to this property has been the recent application of vinyl siding; however, it was applied in such a way that the window surrounds appear to remain largely intact.

8. Statement of Significance

This house was probably built in the 1890s-early 1900s as the rectory for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. While the siding is now covered with vinyl siding, the building appears to retain good integrity otherwise and is considered potentially eligible under Criterion A for its association with St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in this community. It may also have some potential under Criterion C but eligibility under this criterion is not being claimed at this time.
