10th October 2012

Dear Parents and Learners,

Welcome back to all our learners for the final term of 2012.

What a fantastic and huge success we had ending our 3rd term with the “Wendon Golden Art Exhibition”.

We definitely have talented children and teachers. Thank you parents for making this evening a greater success for your child by being at the evening. It is vital that the school continues to build on every child’s success story, no matter how small. To be ‘serenaded” by Mr Didlick added to the immense success of the evening. All the food was donated by Westville SuperSpar, who without hesitation assist us in our fundraising efforts.

/ A special and warm welcome to Jabu Chiliza and his family.
May your time at Wendon Academy be a happy one.
Jabu will be joining Grade 8 with Mrs Cross.

The 4th term is so short. Seven weeks until break-up day. WOW - some of children will find this term stressful. Let us support and guide them through this time. Please liaise with the Grade teacher or myself should you be concerned at all throughout this term.

We start this term off with a “BANG”. The Heritage Theatre fundraising evening starts TONIGHT and THURSDAY night. Thank you to all our parents and staff who have helped sell the tickets.

We have a few double tickets available for Thursday night if you would like to join us.

Thank you to our parents who sent in prizes for the night, your generous donations will add to the fun and atmosphere on these evenings.

Thank you, thank you.

For those who have booked, a slip will be coming home today with your child indicating the number of seats, what day you have booked and the table you are seated at for the evening. A list will be at the door for table confirmation.

The doors open at 18h30, dinner is served at 19h00. As we are fully booked, please arrive timeously. Dinner will not be served during the show.

This is our sixth Smile Award and it has certainly had an impact on the children. Just a reminder as to what it is about. - we have instituted a monthly Smile Award for one child in each class in the Senior Primary School. The children are encouraged to make a difference by being caring, kind and respectful, as well as abiding by the school’s Code of Conduct. They are acknowledged in assembly and receive a special gift from the “Smile Goodie Box”.
September Awardees are:
Junior Class
Suhail Paruk – Always willing to help.
Grade 6
Azra Motala – For beautiful work presentation.
Grade 7
Jordan Lee – For always being cheerful and helpful
Congratulations, you can be so proud of making a difference.
/
This award has been implemented in the High School, again to encourage positive re-inforcement.
The learners will receive a “Sunshine Award” which is then popped into a box. At the end of the term,
3 awards will be randomly pulled out of the box and the awardees will receive a prize.
The prizes this term were won by:
Jordan Joubert - R50 cash
Roxanne Richardson - R40 cash
Calvin de Reuck - R30 cash
