POSITION TITLE:BEHAVIOUR THERAPIST

LOCATION:South East Region – (Thomasburg, ON area with some association with Head Office in Aurora)

SALARY RANGE:$22.27- $27.83 / hour

POSITION STATUS:Temporary Part Time(8 month contract to April 1, 2012)

HOURS OF WORK:15 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, Myra Sugar,theBehaviour Therapist will serve as consultant to the KPAS residential and community outreach services. Responsibilities will include employee development and training; conducting behavioural assessments,the analysis and presentation of behavioural data for ongoing psychiatric clinics at KPAS, developing behaviour protocols, and working with employees, individuals and families in developing interventions that are in compliance professional best practices and with agency philosophy. Additional duties and responsibilities include fee-for-service if required also in the domains of training and individual case consultation under appropriate supervision.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have proven practical experience in the field of autism and applied behaviour analysis, strong skills in the area of organization, the ability to supervise and train employees in the implementation and monitoring of behavioural programs, verbal and written communication and motivation, along with an ability to function both independently and collaboratively with employees and agency professionals as required.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with individuals, families, employees and other agencies, and will be able to demonstrate support and sensitivity to the needs of families and individuals dealing with crises.

The successful candidate will have proven practical experience in conducting behavioural assessments, devising behavioural interventions, and analyzing data, along with a demonstrated interest in applied research. A B.Sc. or B.A. in Psychology plus special training/education in applied behaviourand 2 years related experience is preferred but suitable candidates not meeting these requirements may be considered. Current First Aid, CPR, CPI, and Pharmacology certifications, and experience working in the Mental Health field, familiarity with a union environment are considered assets.

A valid Driver’s License, with a minimum G2 standing, and a reliable vehicle are required as the candidate must be available to travel to all regions of Ontario where KPAS provides support.
