POSITION DESCRIPTION:

AsIndustrial Placement Innovation Technologist within our European Flavor team, your key responsibility will be to assist the delivery ofnewproduct development and design projects. Based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, you will contribute byproviding practical support in generating technical input to development projects creating next generation flavoring materials and technologies for Food and Beverage categories. You will be part of a network of scientists and technologists employed throughout the Global Sensient Flavor business. The projects you support will deliver results with a global impact.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  1. Prepare various food applications in support of Innovation projects, to a high specification and regard to hygiene
  2. Conduct sensory, analytical and physical testing of test food materials
  3. Performscientifically robust experiments while carrying out scientific work safely
  4. Report results to project leader accurately and timely.
  5. Ensure various laboratory and pilot plant equipment is operated safely, and commit to learning new as required
  6. Ensure laboratory apparatus is maintained and calibrated
  7. Ensure laboratory materials are stocked and maintained according to operating procedures and methods
  8. Maintain laboratory and development areas to a high level
  9. Ensure precise experimental records are maintained.
  10. Communicate required changes to work priorities to remain focused on objectives in rapidly changing circumstances.
  11. Authors or co-author internal reports, and/or development plans
  12. Excellent team player,supporting team members and occasionally providing support at customer meetings and presentations
  13. Trial new technologies in various Sensient locations across Europe
  14. Responsible for own conduct and quality of delivery of tasks on projects
  15. Maintain awareness of food industry developments, scientific literature cascading producing regular updates to cascade new developments

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Skills, Knowledge and experience required to be successful in this role:

  • Studying food science, or relatedsubject
  • Understanding of food manufacture processes
  • Fast uptake of new skills and competencies with a willingness to apply in practical situations
  • Excellent team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm and ability to take on new challenges, developing self and sharing results with others
  • Strong work ethic with high performing completer skills
  • Computer literate; familiarity with internet search, statistics, spreadsheet and word processor software
