CHAPTER 5 – PRODUCING DATA – INDEPENDENT STUDY PROJECT

These assignmentsare due:

Instead of doing in-class lectures in Chapter 5, your job is to read the chapter and complete problems independently. It is expected that you will read all parts of this chapter, and use appropriate language in your responses. There are 3 aspects of the chapter which will be checked and graded.

1) You must complete the following problems from the chapter, using complete sentences and making use of ideas from the chapter: 2, 4, 7, 8,10, 14, 15, 18, 20, 25, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 39, 41, 44, 47, 49,56, 72, 75, 80, 82, 83. These problems will be graded using a “spot check” process. 20 points

2) On the project due date, we will have a shortquiz, worth 20 pointsdesigned to assess your knowledge and understanding of the key terms from the chapter. The list of key words and concepts, from which I will craft my questions, is given below.

3) Finally, before the holidays, you will be given 4 past AP Exam problems involving the chapter to complete. We will use the actual College Board rubrics to grade these questions, and learn how credit is earned for each part of a free-response question. The questions will count for 20 points.

BONUS: The first 8 people to turn in their textbook problems will receive a 2-point bonus. The next 8 people to turn it in will receive one bonus point. This bonus can be revoked if the quality of the work seems to have suffered by speed.
