Professional Obligations
- Arrive no later than 7:10 AM
- Leave no earlier than 3:10 PM
- Sign in and out at the office each day
- You are expected to wear: shirt and tie each day Mon.-Thurs.; appropriate
“dress-down” attire on Fridays and other special days
- Expected to follow Pennsylvania’s Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for
Educators
- You are expected to attend the daily meetings with team, weekly meetings with
Special Education Inclusion teacher and any parent or student meeting
- Call-off procedure: contact me via cell phone before 9PM or after 5:30AM
- If you suspect that school will be closed or delayed, tune into local news or
check the school’s website. In case of a 2-hour delay, arrive at 9:30.
Planning
- Lesson Plans due to mentor teacher by end of the day Thursday of each week
- Lesson Plans due to main office by end of the day Friday
Plans might include the following:

____ learning objectives (goals)
____ opening (launch), middle, closing (exit)
____ materials to be used
____ assessment of learning
Discipline (will differ in different school settings, see school policies)
- Speak with student individually during team plan or after class
- Call parent/guardian (only after talking to Mentor Teacher)
- Assign detention
- Refer to administrator
* We will have detailed discussion on tactics to improve behavior
management within the classroom

Assuming the role of teacher
- observations of mentor and other teachers during 1st 2 weeks
- working with students individually while mentor is teaching by 3rd week
- team teaching with mentor teacher by beginning of 5th week
- teach 1st content area by 8th week
- teach 2nd content area by 14th week
