Section 4: Event Information

This introductory creative writing course will help you:

1.  Identify how to choose a starting point for a story and how to develop it

2.  How to create character and dialogue

3.  How to build a sense of place in your writing.

These are practical writing workshops, so come prepared to write!
In each session we will be doing writing exercises based on photographs and 3D prompts, as well as sounds and even smells. Each week we will also take a look at some examples of how great writers have created their work. The course is suitable for anyone interested in beginning to write prose fiction or for those who are already writing.

Emma Makarova is a local writer with over fifteen years teaching and training experience. She is currently completing an MA in Creative Writing, which includes Teaching and Enabling New Writing. She has been long-listed for a national short story competition and is currently finishing her first novel. She runs the Peak Scribbling Writers’ Group in New Mills.
