Course organisation
Provide a clear statement of the structure of the school’s proposed course and how it is organised and sequenced.
The course organisation should indicate:
- the 4 to 8 units to be studied through the course
- coverage of six areas of study within the course of study (Section 3.1.2)
- at least two contextualised units of work which draw on at least two areas of study (Section 3.1.4)
- time allocation for each unit (Section 3.1.1)
4 to 8 units of work ranging from 20 to 55 hours
220 hours for a four semester course of study.
Note: In this template, the assessment plan is included with the course organisation. Schools may choose to provide the course organisation and the assessment plan separately.
The course organisation tables may have lines added where necessary to reflect the number of units chosen and the assessment that matches the units.
The assessment plan provides an indication of the range and balance of assessment instruments and procedures used to gather information about student achievement for the four-semester course of study. The assessment plan should ensure verification folio requirements about student achievements are met, as outlined in Section 4.6 of the syllabus.
Assessment plan
Indicate the range and balance of assessment instruments and procedures used to gather information about student achievement for the twoyear course of study. The assessment plan must include:
- units indicating the areas of study to be assessed in each semester
- dimensions in which student achievement is to be assessed (Section 2)
- a variety of assessment instruments necessary to provide evidence to reach valid judgments about student achievement (Section 4.5)
- assessment techniques using the terminology of the syllabus (Section 4.5)
- assessment conditions that are appropriate to the assessment technique selected (Section 4.5)
- students have been provided with opportunities to become familiar with assessment techniques that will be used to make summative judgments
- verification folio requirements have been met (Section 4.6)
–minimum of four and a maximum of six assessment instruments from Year 12 only
–evidence of each dimension being assessed summatively three times before verification
–one supervised extended response test (Section 4.5.5)
–one feasibility study assessing all three dimensions (Section 4.5.3)
- one post-verification assessment response which assesses all three dimensions
- a student profile that (Section 4.6)
–is consistent with the assessment plan
–indicates whether assessment is formative or summative
–states the assessment technique using the terminology of the syllabus (Section 4.5)
–allows for the recording of:
- standard achieved in each dimension for each assessment instrument
- interim standard awarded for each dimension and level of achievement at monitoring and verification
- overall standard awarded for each dimension and the level of achievement at exit.
