This is an opportunity for an events co-ordinator to join the National Film and Television School which is one of the world’s leading film schools and a recognised centre of excellence. Graduates from the School have directed, shot, created or producedmany leading feature films and TV programmes currently being shown nationally and internationally and are responsible for a staggering $1 billion of box office hits annually.

With proven experience of co-ordinating events, you will be responsible for the successful planning and delivery of a wide spectrum of events for our 40th Anniversary in 2011 including a Gala Dinner for 800 guests in June. Self-motivated and enthusiastic, you will play a vital role in maximising income, raising the NFTS profile and developing relationships with new supporters. Key responsibilities will include booking venues, managing volunteers, liaising with supporters, budget forecasts and monitoring, data input, as well as excellent record keeping.

Working within a small team, you will thrive on taking the initiative, have a solution focused approach and be comfortable working with internal and external stakeholders at the highest level. You will also have excellent interpersonal and communications skills and work well within a team.

Events and Fundraising at the NFTS

The NFTS has established an excellent track record in fundraising. It raised close to £8m for its new teaching building under the leadership of its Chairman and Deputy Chairmanand held two extremely successful Gala events raising over £700,000 in unrestricted income recently. Crucial to these achievements has been the active leadership of the Director of the NFTS (Nik Powell) and its Board of Governors who are all influential representatives from the film and television industry with excellent networks.

This role offers a great opportunity for an events organiser to play a key role in thedevelopment of NFTS.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Job title:Events and Fundraising Co-ordinator

Reporting to: Head of Fundraising

Purpose of the role:

To plan and deliver a series of events for the NFTS’ 40th Anniversary in 2011 and to assist the Head of Fundraising in her role which will include clerical and administrative responsibilities as required.

Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Co-ordinating our high-profile Gala Dinner attended by up to 800 guests including many celebrities in June 2011. The aim of the event is to raise over £300,000 in support of scholarships, the curriculum and our capital development plans.
  • You will alsobe expected to actively contribute to the delivery of the annual NFTS Show, an alumni reunion weekend, a BAFTA screening, an Emeritus Lecture and any other events organised to celebrate the NFTS’ 40th Anniversary.
  • As part of these core responsibilities you will be expected to assist the 40th Anniversary and Gala Committees with administrative tasks, liaise with donors and other external stake holders at the highest level, write copy for publications, draft up letters, do mail merges, keep our database up to date, manage volunteers and monitor event budgets.
  • You will also assist the Head of Fundraising with prospect research and donor stewardship.
  • Any other duties reasonably associated with the post.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Some proven experience in project management or running of high profile events.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills; an ability to organise work and time effectively and to cope with changing priorities, sometimes at short notice; attention to detail

Post:EVENTS AND FUNDRAISING CO-ORDINATOR, based at the NFTS in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire

Reporting to:The Head of Fundraising

Hours:35 hours per week from 09.30 to 17.30 Monday to Friday, however, flexible working in the build up to events is required. Any overtime can be reclaimed as time off in lieu.

Salary:In the region of £20,000-25,000 p.a depending on relevant qualifications, skills and experience

Contract:Fixed term contract for 11 months

ProbationaryConfirmation of appointment is subject to successful completion of a

Period:3-month period.

Holidays:20 days per calendar year plus additional paid leave at Christmas and Easter, and statutory holidays. NFTS holiday year runs parallel to the academic year from January to December.
