Dear Family,
On Monday, October 1, 2012 the first graders at YakeElementary schoolwill be taking a field trip to Erie Orchard and Cider Mill in Erie, Michigan. Students will learn about the orchard, growing and raising apples, and other interesting plant facts. Our tour will include:
-A hayride to the orchard
-3 apples
-A visit to the cold storage room
-Viewing of the cider making room
-A glass of freshly made cider and donut
-A mini pumpkin
The bus will be leaving at 10:05 a.m. and returning by 2:00 p.m.
Students should bring a sack lunch (No Lunch Boxes) with a beverage in a non-breakable, disposable container. If you are interested in ordering a sack lunch from school, the cost is $2.70 unless your child gets a reduced or free lunch. Please see the attached form. All lunch orders MUST be returned by the due date, Monday, September 24, 2012, or they will not be processed in time.
The cost of the field trip is $9.00 for children and $9.00 for adult chaperones. NO CHECKS, PLEASE!
We are limited to 3 chaperones per class. Chaperones will be picked randomly, with the names of those interested being drawn from a hat. Due to the school district policy and liability concerns, younger siblings are unable to attend the field trip. It is required that chaperones ride the bus with their assigned group of students. Thank you for your support.
Please complete the permission slip below, emergency wavier form, and lunch order form (if needed) and return to school along with a full payment no later than Monday, September 24, 2012. It is very IMPORTANT to send in all forms and payment at the SAME TIME to lessen the confusion as weprepare for this memorable field trip. Thank you for your cooperation!!!
All chaperones MUST have an IChat (Internet background check) form filled out and on file in the office. A new form must be filled out every year. New forms need to be in no later than Monday, September 24th. These take one week to process. You will not be able to chaperone the trip without a processed form on file.
*** Reminder: Please park in the visitor’s parking lot, not in our bus lanes or driveways, as this is a fire and safety issue.
