APeople’sChoiceChickenWingsContestwillbeheldonSunday,July16. People’sChoice rulesaredescribedat theendofthispackage.
Foralleventsanytypeoffuelsourcethecookwishestousewillbeallowed,including,but notlimitedto:charcoal,wood,propaneandelectricity. Anytypeofcookingmethod,including deepfrying,islegalforallentries,includingPeople'sChoice.
Eachcookingteammustprovidetheirowncookers,grillsorsmokers,andnoteammayshare theirgrills,cookersorsmokerswithanyothercookingteam.Allcookingmustbedoneinthe grills,cookersorsmokersprovidedbytheteam,andnocookingwillbeallowedontheground, orintheground.
Eachcookingsitewillbeapproximately20’x 20’andallvehicles,tents,tables,grills,cookers orsmokersMUSTfitwithineachteam’sassignedspace.Thereis aseparateparkingareafor vehicleswhichwillnotfit onyoursite,orvehiclesthatwillbeusedtorunerrands.

Thecontainerwillbepre-markedwitha number.Thenumberwillthenbecoveredwithanalternatenumber.Thisnumbermustbeonthetopoftheboxwhentheentryisturnedin.

Thedouble-blindjudgingsystem willbeused,meaningthatnojudgeswillknowwhichteam’s entrytheyarejudgingatanytime.

ATrophy,abannerandcashwillbeawardedto theGrandChampioneachday, whichwill bedeterminedbycombiningthetotalpointsofthecategories.
Eachcookingteamis expectedtoadheretothehighestfood-safetyprocedures,andlatexorvinylglovesarerecommendedwhenpreppingandhandlingmeats.
Eachcookingteammustprovidea three-stagewashingstation,consistingofatuborpanof Eachcookingteammustprovidea three-stagewashingstation,consistingofatuborpanof soapywater,atuborpanorrinsingwater,anda tuborpanof disinfectingwater.Disinfecting waterconsistsof1Tablespoonof bleachper gallonof water.Waterwillbeavailableatthecon- test.
Eachcookingteammusthaveafireextinguisherontheirsiteat alltimesduringtheevent. Electricityislimited,andnotguaranteedafterJune 16th.Earlyregistrationisadvised.
Afterload-in,therewillbeNOvehicleaccess inand outof thecontest site.If you willbetraveling to and from the store,or otherwiserunning errands,your vehicleMUST be keptinthemainparking lot.
Eachcookingteamis expectedtoleavetheircookingsiteinequalorbetterconditionthanit was whentheyarrived,andeachteam’scookingsitewillbeinspectedwhentheyleavethe event.

Sites will be reserved on a first come first served basis. Please let us know before June 16th, on the contest application if you’d like to be set-up next to a particular team. We will do or best to accommodate you.
Limited RV sites are available by filling out the appropriate box on your contest application before June 16th.
Water will be available for free (non-potable, bring your own carrying buckets and/or hoses)
Ice will be sold on site
Trash must be removed by each competitor (dumpsters are available on site) Outdoor restroom facilities will be available on site
10 amp electricity will be provided for a fee of $20.00, with advance notice. Please check the appropriate box on your entry application. Please bring 100' of extension cord if you desire an electrical hookup.
Receptacles will be available on-site for grease and ash disposal. Please bring separate containers for transporting grease and ashes to the proper receptacles.
Please bring a tray or pan to put under your cookers and fire-starting areas.

Oneseparate“People’s Choice”Contestswillbeheldatthis year’s Brookline
BarbecueContestinconjunctionwith themain BBQContest.
People’s ChoiceChickenWingswill bejudged onSundaybetween12:00Noon and2:30 pm.Thepeople’s choicetentwill bemanagedbyBrooklineFire DepartmentandNEBSvolunteers.
Entryfeesfor eachofthePeople’s ChoiceContestwill be $10.00per team. Teamsmust provide theirownmeatfor thePeople’sChoiceContest. Onlyone (1) entryper teamwill be allowedfor thePeople’s Choicecontest.
Admission tothePeople’s Choicetentwill be $5per person.
Thecombinedtotal oftheentryfees andthe admissionfees will besplit evenly betweenthePeople’sChoiceContestwinners andthe BrooklineFireDepartment.
Each personpaying admission tothePeople’sChoice tentwill beprovided 5 samplesperentry inthetent,andgivenaballottocastavotefortheirfavorite entry.Peoplecanpaytheadmissionandvoteas oftenas they’dlike.
AllPeople’s Choiceentries mustbecooked onsite.Wingsmaybe rinsed,skinnedand/ortrimmedbeforearrival atthecook-offsite.
Wingsmaybepre-seasoned,marinated,brined,or otherwiseflavored,as thecook seesfit,before arrival atthecook-offsite.
Eachcookingteam isexpectedto adhere tothe highestfood-safetyprocedures, andlatex, nitrile or vinyl gloves are recommendedwhenpreppingand handling meats. Proper storage of meatis required,andmeatthermometersshouldbe used.Meat mustbe maintainedbelow40°F before cookingor above140°Fafter cooking.
Allteamssubmitting samplesmustbeparticipating intheNEBSCook-offevent. Eachteamshallbegivena half-sized aluminum pan,whichthey will fill with their entries andsubmit tothePeople’s Choice tentbetweenatthedesignatedtimes.
Chickenwingsmaybe cookedwhole,but mustbe submittedin individualdrummette and/or wingetteportions.Wingsmaybeseparated either before orafter cooking.
ABFD representativewill mark eachcontainerto track thevoting.Prizes willbe awardedfor 1st,2nd,and3rd place basedonthenumberofvotes received.
Prizeswill be announcedandawardedduringMainContestawards.
