2.Catalog Description:
Presents the basic principles of nutrition and exercise training for the purpose of weight management. Special emphasis is on the role of regular physical activity and exercise to maintain an optimal body weight for overall health and wellness.

4.Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
- Identify and define the components of health related fitness and wellness
- Identify health risk factors and major health issues associated with physical inactivity
- Develop a plan of behavior change that improves health related fitness and enhances the components of wellness
- Experience and gain through participation an appreciation of physical activity and exercise
- Define and apply the principles of fitness training, in particular:
- caloric expenditure required for a variety of activities
- impact of aerobic and resistance exercise training on resting metabolic rate
- Define and apply the principles of basic nutritional and caloric needs, in particular:
- caloric intake versus caloric expenditure
- caloric needs to meet basic nutritional recommendations
- To participate in a variety of health-related fitness activities at moderate to vigorous intensity
