Platform Support Manager

Take a leadership role within a global media company as our Platform Support Manager. Informa is looking for a Platform Support Manager to lead a small team of Systems Analysts, providing hands on customer support, maintenance and user training of all internally hosted applications and platforms. Reporting to the Product Infrastructure and Support Director, in this role you will be the human link between the end users and the technology teams. Using an internal ticketing system you will track efficiencies and understand the day to day problems that arise within the business, acting as a change agent to improve our platforms and applications hosted within the business.

Core functional/ technical skills required include

§  Operating systems: Windows (XP, Vista & 7); Linux (Redhat);

§  Structured data searching & processing, technologies such as Autonomy, SOLR or Endeca;

§  Security software, security strategies, including anti-virus software, and issues it presents to the online publishing environment;

§  E-mail security and delivery issues (IP White and black lists, firewall, VPN);

§  Basic relational database structures and be able to run SQL Queries, stored procedures, parameterised queries and basic administration of Microsoft SQL server being familiar with other database technologies such as: MySQL; Oracle; Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio;

§  Mid level understanding of LDAP and related directory technologies such as Active Directory

§  Mid level data formats such as CSV and XML and use of tools such as XMLSpy and SOAPUI

§  Mid level understanding of XML programming languages such as XSL and XPath

§  Basic understanding of common web servers including IIS, Apache and Nginx;

§  Internet and web technologies as they impact on this role, including but not limited to: TCP/IP; HTML; CSS; Java; PHP; .Net; RSS; SOAP; Remote Desktop; FTP; DHCP; NAT & Proxies;

§  Browsers: Internet Explorer; Firefox; Chrome;

§  Embedded browser technologies: Adobe Flash; Mplayer & Java Applets;

To be successful the Platform Support Manager should demonstrate

§  A recognised University degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

§  Proven commercial experience in a 2nd line technical support role support web based enterprise applications

§  Practical team leadership experience

§  Organised, logical and methodical, flexible person with a deadline driven working manner and an attention to detail and accuracy in both written and spoken English

§  Proven experience working with business end users

§  Proven experience supporting web and e-commerce systems
