Re: Letter of Discipline -Termination of Employment

Dear Employee:

In accordance with Board of Education (Board) Policy 323 Support Personnel Discipline Policy, this letter of termination is being issued to you as a result of neglect of duty based on a pattern of unexcused absences. Your termination of employment with Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) is effective today, the date of this letter, which has been previously discussed with you along with your representative (if applicable).

On March 27, 2015, you failed to report to work for your entire work shift of 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. at ABC School. In addition, you did not notify your supervisor that you would not be at work.

On February 25, 2015, you were provided a letter of reprimand by me for failing to report to work on February 23, 2015. In that letter, I indicated that future occurrences could lead to further disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

This type of behavior creates a burden on others who have to complete your work. It also results in having inadequate coverage at the school which poses security issues and lack of coverage for outside user groups.

Pursuant to FCPS Regulations 200-46, 300-36 and 300-46, please turn in all keys, swipe cards and FCPS equipment to your immediate supervisor. All personal items must be removed from FCPS property. We ask that you keep your contact information current with the Human Resources Department so that you will receive tax forms and other documents in a timely manner. If you have been receiving health/dental insurance benefits, you can expect a separate benefits letter that will outline the status of your benefits upon termination. The letter will include information about your eligibility for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) continuation of group health coverage.

In accordance with the Negotiated Agreement between the Board and the Frederick Association of School Support Employees (FASSE), Article 3.3, as well as Board Policy 105 Appeal and Hearing Procedures, you have a right to appeal this decision by writing a letter to the Superintendent within 30 days of receipt of this letter.

Respectfully,

Principal/Supervisor
