PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS
- Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School is a Catholic School for both girls and boys. It started in 1988 and has expanded to include A-Level since 2005.
- The school is managed by the Congregation of Christian Brothers for the Catholic Archdiocese of Arusha.
- Twelve combinations (as listed on the Application Form) are under consideration but the ones to be offered by the school will depend upon the number of applications for each – in recent years all twelve have been taken by the students. These combinations are CBA, CBG, CBN, ECA, EGM, HGE, HGK, HGL, HKL, PCB, PCM and PGM.
- The offer of a place in boarding and the continuation of that place is dependent upon health and safety, cooperation and good academic progress
- The fee schedule forForm Five for the 2017-18 academic year is as follows:

The fees for Form Six 2018-19 will be the same as above plus the addition of 100 000/- to cover examination entry fees – ie ACSEE/Form Six National, Mock and Pre-National.
- Form Four graduates of Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School are eligible for a fee reduction - based on their Form Four Grade - for each of Forms Five and Six. The level of the deduction is as follows: Division 1 - 100 000/- for each year of Form 5 and Form 6, Division 2 –
50 000/- for each year of Form 5 and 6. Division 3 – no deduction.
- This form costs 15 000/-TS, payable upon collection of the form and includes the cost of interview and further communication.
- This form must be completed and returned to the school at the interview. A recent passport size coloured photograph of the applicant must be attached before the form will be accepted and before an interview will take place.
- All Form Five applicants must be aware of the following requirements from NECTA – adapted from previous directions but using the new assessment standards for Form Four 2015 and 2016!
“Applicant for Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE – ie at the end of Form Six)) shall be required to observe the following:
(a)School Candidate applicant must
(i)attend secondary education for two years consecutively in a registered secondary school
(ii)have passed (ie A, B, C or D) a minimum of five subjects at the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or its equivalent, in which three shall be at credit pass (ie A, B or C) regardless of whether the credits were obtained in one or different sittings,
(iii)a class of Division Three or better, ie points of 25 or less, and
(iv)passed (ie D or better) in all three combination subjects registered for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE)
OR
(v)have three credits (ie C or better) in their Combination.
(b) Private Candidate applicant shall have a minimum of three credits (A, B or C )in three different subjects at the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or its equivalent, regardless of whether the credits were obtained in one or different sittings.”
- In line with government regulation, preference will be given to those with at least two credits in their combination while consideration will also be given to those with one credit in the combination.
- INTERVIEWS: No student will be considered for enrolment without having attended the school for an oral (ie it is more about personal development than about the content of subjects to be studied) interview with either the Registrar or a senior member of the administration.Interviews will commence onMonday February 13th 2017.
- SCHEDULE for INTERVIEWS:
All applicants – ie those who have obtained Division One, Two or Three (or the equivalent) in one sitting of the CSEE (ie Form Four
National Examination) and others who have qualified for A-Level – as School or Private Candidates - will be interviewed from mid-
February onwards.
- Interviews will take place at the school on any MondayorFridayfrom 9.00 am until 3.00 pm. Interviews on other weekdays will only take place by appointment!
- It should also be noted that the number of places will be limited to about 250 with about 80 places being available in boarding for girls and 150 places being available in boarding for boys; a small number of places (maximum 50) will be available for day students
- The following materials must be brought for the interview – they will be collected at the interview:
- A recent passport size coloured photograph of the applicant
- The completed Application Form including the Recommendations from a Priest/Pastor/Imam of your religious faith and a senior staff member of your previous school – with appropriate stamping.
- A copy of your Form Four (CSEE) Leaving Certificate or School Graduation Certificate.
- A copy of your Form Four (CSEE) Result Slip or a printout from the NECTA website – showing name and index number.
- A copy of either a Birth Certificate or a Baptismal Card.
- The offer of a placeto an applicant will be made after consideration of the student’s application and interview.
Those with Division One, Two or Three will normally be offered a place in their Combination promptly, especially if they fit our criteria of having at least two credits in their chosen Combination
Others – such as those with Division Four, or having repeated Form Four - may have to wait until June before being offered a place; again we will place our priority on students opting for Combinations in which they have at least two credits.
- Once an offer has been made, the applicant is required to pay 100 000/- to obtain the Joining Instructions, with the 100 000/- being a first payment of fees for those who study at Edmund Rice. Otherwise, it is not refundable for those who choose not to study at Edmund Rice.To collect Joining Instructions, the student presents the receipt for the 100 000/-Ts first payment to the Registrar who will then issue the Joining Instructions.
- This payment may be made in cash at the school’s Finance Office or through the school’s bank, NBC, for “Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School”, account number 014103014741. Please include the student’s Name, Form and Combination on the bank slip.
- Acceptance of an offer should be made within two weeks of an offer being made; otherwise the offer is withdrawn and the place will be made available for other applicants.
- All Form Five and Six boarders are to arrive by 5.00 pm on Monday July 3rdwith all Form Fivestudentscommencing with an orientation programme on Tuesday 4thJuly 2017from 8.00 am..
- Students who enrol after the commencement of classes are to report as soon as possible – classes early in the academic year are most important as they set the basics in each subject.
- Enrolment procedures are under the direct control of the Headmaster who reserves the right to alter these guidelines in any specific instance but has appointed a Registrar to deal with all enrolment matters.
