Education: Two Scholarships were awarded earlier, A $3000 to Kristen Mary Anderson submitted by Piedmont Unit 311 for the Children of Warrior Scholarship and a $5000 Scholarship to Shelby Riggs submitted by the Mitchell Unit for the Spirit of Youth Scholarship.

Girls Nation/Girls State: Citation to Spearfish Unit 164 Northwestern Division Million Members Award for their Girls State submission. SD ALA Girls State was recognized for the media roundtable luncheon.

South Dakota was recognized on the National Convention stage by the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation for their outstanding contribution to the Foundation this year. Child and Youth Chairman Elvira Moen accepted the plaque.

South Dakota was also recognized as the Northwestern Division top supporter of the Veterans Creative Arts Fair. A drawing of the Divisions was held but SD was not the lucky recipient.

We also had pictures on the big screen for Girls State, National Security welcome home, Box Elder Unit 315 Operation Warm Hugs George AFitzgerald Unit 65 for pillow cases, Mary Jo’s display for Auxiliary Emergency Fund aat State Convention, R.E.D. Friday, and I was told that South Dakota Delegation made the local Cincinnati TV network during the parade as we gave out bats and balls and sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”.
