Job Title:Nursery Practitioner x3

Reporting to:Nursery Manager

Hours of Work:37hours per week

Location:Braiswick Park Nursery, Apprentice Drive, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5QJ

Salary: £13,853-£14,334 per annum (Depending on Qualifications)

JOB PURPOSE

To work as an effective member of an early year’s team delivering a flexible, high quality, education and care centred service that meets the needs of the young children and their families

JOB ACTIVITIES

  • To work with allearly years and childcare staff and trainees as part of a highly motivated and professional team.
  • To attend and contribute to staff meetings, attend staff development and keep up to date with current childcare issues.
  • To be flexible and creative and have the commitment to provide high quality childcare.
  • To have the ability to promote good childcare practice in a professional and inclusive manner.
  • To be fully involved in all activities associated with early years and daycare and OOS provision.
  • To work as part of a team in planningand implementing an appropriate range of activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage including organising and preparingall materials used for social training, physical development and educational experience, e.g. art and craft activities, sand and water play, cooking, musical activities, story telling, dressing-up and role play, computer activities, large and small apparatus activities and other excursions.
  • To encourage and demonstrate to children clearing up after activities making sure that materials and equipment are well cared for and stored away properly.
  • To work closely with parents to create and develop open and inclusive working partnerships which support the development of their children.
  • To encourage children in the development of personal hygiene e.g. toileting.
  • To undertake specialist tasks as determined by the Nursery Manager and their Deputy including contributions to report preparation.
  • To promote inclusive attitudes and practices to accommodate and support the diversity of the local community.
  • To contribute and support induction training and ongoing support of trainees at the centre.
  • To implement the 4Children Observation, Assessment & Planning Toolkit under the instruction of the Manager.
  • To undertake duties which involve supporting and developing college students on placement and apprenticeships.
  • To follow all 4Children Policies & Procedures to ensure safe and high quality nursery provision is available to all children

Essential / Desirable
Education & qualifications / Level 2/3 early years and childcare qualification
e.g.
NNEB, NVQ Level 2/3 inChildcare and Education
GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths
First Aid qualification
Enhanced CRB Disclosure Certificate
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Experience & Abilities / At least one years’ experience of working in an early years and daycare setting with children in the 0-5 age range and their families.

Experience of working as part of a team providing high quality early years and daycare services

Working knowledge of the emotional, physical, psychological and educational development of children, in order to provide an environment in which the child’s full potential can be developed, and in which parents/carers can be supported in their relationship with their children.
A working knowledge of the particular requirements of children with special needs in terms of their support, development and care planning.
Experience of working with parents and carers from a range of cultural backgrounds, encouraging full participation in their children’s play and learning opportunities
Able to demonstrate a commitment toongoing personal and professional development
Knowledge of keylegislation relating to childcare
Knowledge of child protection issues and policies and relevant Safeguarding Children Board procedures
A working knowledge of relevant Health & safety and Basic Food Hygiene requirements / Experience of working with babies aged 0-2 years
Knowledge of the Code of Practice for Special Educational needs

28/30 days per annum including Bank Holidays. Some annual leave will need to be taken at the Christmas period, when the 4Children HQ building closes.

£13,853-£14,334 per annum (Depending on Qualifications)

5.Method of Pay

Salaries are paid by direct debit into the staff members nominated bankaccount on the 15th day of each month.
