Create a 2025 newspaper which demonstrates which aspects of culture would be most important to preserve after human culture is wiped out by a Zombie Apocalypse. Defend your choices.
The following project is to be done independently and will count for roughly 5% of your final grade. This project is designed to give you an opportunity to investigate an area of concern in Anthropology(changing face of culture) that is of particular interest in today's media culture (Zombies are everywhere). You should pick a few strong stories (opposing sides, perhaps) that you believe would happen in this situation (perhaps making you wonder: “why does that happen or why does this matter?”) that you can relate to concepts learned in class. Basically you will attempt to explain what you believe would be issues from an anthropological perspective in the event of a major catastrophic event changing the face of culture immediately.
You can decide what program you can use that will help you create the most interesting visual representations of your succinct verbiage.
STEPS
Step #1 - Brainstorm (sounds like something a zombie would like...lol..so much funnier as I type this out) Titles, article ideas, ads, anthropological key terms that would earn you marks for using and knowing what they mean......
Step #2 - Decide what program you want to use. I recommend Microsoft Publisher. But if you have a better one, let me know, as I am sure you will. You will have two computer lab periods. Ours are Friday and Monday in Lab 210.
Step #3 - Complete the newspaper by the due date, which is now October 30th.
Success Criteria:
I can explain the main ideas and major theories and perspectives in my newspaper as an anthropologist (But what kind? I will leave that up to you!) – Reference to specific research in Anthropology
