Advanced Archery

II. SEMESTER CREDIT HOURS

2 semester credit hours

III. CATALOG DESCRIPTION/PURPOSE

Development of knowledge and skills used for hunting and competitive target shooting. May be repeated for credit. One hour lecture and two one-hours labs.

IV. GOALS/OBJECTIVES

The student will:

1. Know and demonstrate safe shooting techniques on the range.

2. Explain the proper tuning procedures for a compound bow.

V. COURSE CONTENT

A. Introduction

B. Basic and advanced techniques in shooting the bow and arrow

C. Safety and rules that apply to shooting in tournament competition and the hunting

season

D. Calculating the speed of the arrow flight

E. Written tests/reports

F. Skills test

G. Competition in shooting, small and medium targets


VI. EVALUATION

A. Written test/quizzes 30%

B. Skill test/performance 30%

C. Participation 40%

D. Grading Scale:

90 -100% = A

78 - 89% = B

60 - 77% = C

49 - 59% = D

Below 49% = F

* There will be a $10 fee for archery supplies. This fee must be paid before midterm of the semester or the student will be administratively dropped from the class.

Archery proficiency and must own your own equipment.
