Welcome and Pledge:

Board/Staff Members Present:

Lisa Ann DeLeo, Mandy Newton, Ashley Hughes, Samantha McCarthy, Selina Bowers, Mrs. DeeDee Bitter, Ms. Annette Trussell. Ms. Debbie Ough, Ms. Sandra Wyrick, Mrs. Stevie Hicks, Ms Nora Rossodivito, Ms. Leah Fischer, Ms. Letizia Haugabrook. Jestine Noll excused.

Treasurer’s Report:As of 09/11/12 the book balance is $18,785.05.

The purchase of the laminator discussed from the previous PTO meeting has not been purchased. That invoice will be approx. $2000.

Minutes Read/Reviewed:

Samantha McCarthy made a motion to accept the minutes from the August 28, 2012 PTO meeting with corrections. Mrs. Dee Dee Bitter seconded the motion. All were in favor. None opposed. Motion passed. The correction made were – 1st name- Jestine Noll will change from Justine to Jestine and year for Box Top contest will change from 2013 to 2012.

FSL (Family Resource Liaison):

Ms. Nora Rossodivito explained her role as the Family Resource Liaison. She stated that the school will be updating the technology and getting new items in her center. Ms. Rossodivito also mentioned other events that she manages such as but not limited to “Blessings in a Backpack”, “Stocking a Pantry for those in Need” and “Game Night with Parents”. She asked for any donations such as personal hygiene items, clothing for children in PreK-5, shoes (tennis), and non-perishable items.

Old Business:

Chrystal Towne presented the boxes for the Box-Top drive. She was open to any suggestions to make boxes more appealing. There was a suggestion to possibly cover the boxes with red paper as opposed to brown paper bag. Ashley Hughes will also provide tags for Ms. Towne with the school name and information. Box Tops can only be submitted twice a year with 1st submission on 11/01/2012. The box tops will be collected from the teachers weekly. Jennifer Myers mentioned that Public Works office in Eustis collects box tops. She wasn’t sure if there was any school in particular they were collecting for. Ms. Myers will try to get that information.

Mrs. Stevie Hicks is still in need of volunteers for the Book Fair. There is a great need for volunteers for Parent’s Night on September 18,2012.

Lisa Ann DeLeo stated that two cameras have been secured for 5th grade. There is a possibility that 3 to 4 more will be secured for the 5th grade classes.

New Business:

Family Stem (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) Night will be held on Thursday October 11,2012 @ 6 pm, with dinner being served at 5 pm. The Orlando Science Center will be presenting STEM night. Only 300 students will be allowed to participate. PTO will need 5-7 volunteers to serve food (pizza/drink/sweet) from 5pm- 5:45pm.

The Teacher’s Conferences will be held on November 6, 2012 and November 7, 2012. PTO usually provides food for the staff. Mandy Newton and Samantha McCarthy volunteered to be responsible for that committee. Volunteers will be needed for packing meals approximately 1 ½ hrs before dismissal. Kimberly Dunn will look into the possibility of getting styrofoam boxes donated again. (approx. 150 boxes will be needed)

Mrs. Dee Dee Bitter requested assistance with 4th grades “Time for Kids” program. Time for Kids is a weekly reader program that includes non-fiction articles that helps the students integrate social studies, vocabulary and varies other skills. The Time for Kids program is in need of $97.28 for the program. Mandy Newton made a motion to provide the Time for Kids program $97.28 for their program. Mrs. Debbie Ough and Chrystal Towne seconded the motion. All were in favor. None opposed. Motion passed.

Chick-Fil-A calendars are available. They will be selling for $6. Order forms will be sent out to the teachers. The last date to order is still in discussion.

Mrs. Debbie Ough was the winner of the “PTO Parking Spot” for September.

Next PTO meeting will be held on October 9, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.
