1)County of Kings Agriculture Coop Extension – Denise Cuendett & Susan Lafferty
a)Nutrition Education Program
i)Funded by USDA. At this time the program has money and materials available forKings County schools that qualify. Schools are currently participating in the program.
ii)Program offer:
(1)Nutrition Education lessons for the class room that meet state standards.
(2)During Harvest of the Month packets are provided to teachers.
(3)Participate with schools at events where parents attend.
(4)In collaboration with the health department for Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA for April 16, 2011.
(5)Work with food service staff in promoting healthy eating to children.
(6)Spanish materials are available for parents that do not speak English.
iii)USDA does require teachers to track how many hours are spent in Nutrition Education. An on line survey goes out to the teacher every Friday. It’s a quick link where documentation is recorded.

2)Reading Training Update – Antoinette Draxler
a)Training on Treasures Reading Program
i)Tentative days for the second week of June on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
ii)Cost of $125 per teacher.
iii)Training will be at Frontier Elementary School.
3)CaMSP Update – Judy Cunningham
a)Will take effect in 2014-15.
i)Resources and tools that can help:
(1)Standards for Mathematical Practices (Peach Sheet)
(a)Contains common core standards.
(2)SMARTER-Balanced Key Elements (Gold Sheet)
(a)Has the balance assessment goal for the state.
(3)MARS- Mathematics Assessment Resource Service (Pink Sheet)
(a)Examples of performance based assessments.

ii)Video-Math Class Needs a Makeover Notes (Purple Sheet)
b)Math Grant Training
i)More personnel needed toparticipate in the math grant training. If you are interested please contact Judy.

4)PLCs – Dee Fricks
a)Richard Smith, Sanger USD Assistant Superintendent, will be here next DCC meeting in May to speak on how Sanger District developed PLCs.
i)If there are questions or somethingyou would like to know email Dee Fricks at . This will help Richard prepare on the information he will share.
ii)If any district would like to bring additional personnel to the next DDC Meeting please let Dee know. This will give time to better prepare to accommodate a larger group.
5)BTSA – Site Accreditation Interviews – Dee Fricks
a)Site Accreditation Visit from Monday, April 18th through Thursday April 21st.
6)BTSA – Administrative Training – Dee Fricks
a)Training for new administrators and personnel working with the BTSA Program.
b)BTSA is changing therefore this will be a great opportunity for administrators or personal that have had training a couple of years ago.
c)Would like to offer it next year.
7)PD – Brokers of Expertise (BoE) Training offered by CDE – Dee Fricks
a)Free Training in Clovis
i)4 Sessions to choose from:
(1)2 on May 11th and 2 on May 12th
b)Thousand of digital classroom resources like, the Library of Congress, Thinkfinity, Smithsonian Education and the Exploratorium. Collaboration and online professional development opportunities.
8)West Ed Schools – Dee Fricks
a)Webinar- Defining Principal Effectiveness: Lessons from the Field on the Principal Role in Student Achievement and Teacher Quality.
i)Ben Fenton, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer for New Leaders for New Schools, is presenting a framework for principal effectiveness and expectations for principal practice base on field research in high-poverty public schools.
ii)Offered April 26, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Lemoore Service Center, Building B, Room 305.
