Background to No Pens Day Wednesday
No Pens Day Wednesday is back for 2014 and now in its fourth year! This years event will be taking placenationally on 15th October (though schools and settings can run their dayany time). No Pens Day Wednesday is ournational speaking and listening event; it provides free resources to support schools and settings to put down their pens and pick up their language and teach a full day of lessons focussed on speaking and listening. Resources include lesson plans, activity ideas, assembly ideas, and information for staff and parents.
For2014 we’ve made some exciting additions to the No Pens Day Wednesday resource offer and we're delighted to announce that this year for the first time ever we're rolling out resources specifically for early years and special school settings! We’ve also for the first time got a short video featuring teachers talking about their No Pens Day and the impact it had in their school.
This year the eventis also forming part of our ongoing support to schools in their work to deliver the SEND Reforms that come into force from September 2014. The event gives staff the tools to deliver high quality speaking and listening activities vital for all pupils and especially for those who struggle.
