Future possibilities are composting yard and food waste and recycling of electronic products. We also need to educate people about what’s recyclable and what’s not. Plastic bags are not recyclable but shredded paper needs to be recycled in clear plastic bags. Styrofoam egg cartons are not recyclable but other plastic and cardboard eggcartons are. Much discussion about what to do with electronics, including the possibility of taking them to Ephrata.
10. Environmental stewardship fund (Schultz): Jack referenced his e-mail report to the committee. Receipts to date have been $34,000. Nothing has been spent. Staff ischecking how to spend and we may be consulted. We originally suggested contributing to offset our carbon use. Solar heating of pool will cost a lot more than the fund can provide.
11. We adjourned shortly after 2:20.
Our next meeting will be on November 13 at 1:15 p.m. in the Brooke Worth Room.
Andrea Palmer, Secretary
