Marion County BassmastersAnnual Open Tournament Rules 2018

1. Minimum fish size and length to be twelve inches on a golden ruler. It is the participant’s responsibility to attain and sign a Black Bass Tournament Exemption Permit in his/her possession from take-off to release (after weigh-in). Tournament Anglers must carry their fish back out to the lake for release.

2. All boats must have a working live well capable of sustaining their catch.

3. Boat check will occur before the boat is launched. Tournament Official will check live-wells while boats are waiting in line to launch.

4. Boaters must show proof of insurance at the registration. Sign registration waivers and obtain boat chip number and black bass waivers.

5. Safe boating conduct must be observed at all times. Life vest must be worn when the gas powered motor is in use (Running) and boat lights are required until after sunrise. No Alcoholic beverages permitted during tournament hours.The kill switch is recommended to be hooked up to driver when the gas motor is on and running.

6. No more than five fish per boat. Culling of dead fish is prohibited. Culling at the ramp is not permitted. Short fish will result in a 1/4lb penalty plus loss of Big Bass and that fish will not count. There will be a 1/4lb penalty per dead fish. If that dead fish is the big bass a 1/4lb will be deducted from big bass.

7.In the event of a tie. The angler/team that has a legal live limit will win the tie. In the result the anglers/teams that are tied both having legal live limits then the angler/team with the biggest bass will win the tie.(it is the team/angler’s responsibility to opt to weigh their 1 big bass)

8. Only artificial baits may be used. Also, only one pole per angler in the water at one time. Trolling as a method of fishing is prohibited.

9.No fishing within 50 yards of another contestant whose trolling motor is in the stowed position and is anchored. No fishing within 50 feet from a contestant with the trolling motor in the down position.

10. At least one angler in the boat must be 18years of age. All boats must return their boat chip number prior to the weigh-in to a tournament official (the official will be wearing yellow vest and be by pavilion closest to ramp). All boats must be at the ramp by their designated weigh-in time. Late penalty is 1/4lb per minute, after 15minutes you will be disqualified. Unless approved by the Tournament Director in the state of an emergency with the President being the final authority. If emergency occurs call either Daniel Tillis (352) 572-3148.

11.Protests must be received prior to payouts to the Tournament Director. Tournament Committee will vote and announce the final decision.

12. Any contestant receiving a fine or citation while fishing the tournament will be disqualified. All state and local laws must be complied with at all times. Any violation of tournament rules may be grounds for disqualification.

13.Tournament Committee has the right to refuse entry.

A. (Liability Release) In signing this agreement, We hereby release the Marion County Bassmasters, its officers, agents, employees, members and sponsors from any and all damages, claims, demands, costs or expenses relating to injury of any persons or property which We may sustain or which We may cause by reason of participating in or in connection with Marion County Bassmasters Tournament.

B. (Covenant Not To Sue And Waiver of Subrogation) We further agree that We will never file a lawsuit against Marion County Bassmasters for damages on account of any injury or damage We suffer or cause whether known now or which may develop in the future. In the event Marion County Bassmasters are sued because of our actions, We aggressively agree to indemnify and hold Marion County Bassmasters harmless from all liability whatsoever, including court costs and attorney’s fees, arising with respect to such actions. We understand that in waiving our rights to sue Marion County Bassmasters We are also waiving the rights of recovery from Marion County Bassmasters of our insurance carrier(s) for any claims they may pay on our behalf.
