2Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes but is not limited to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and its subsequent amendments.

3For the purposes of assessment, posts must be installed using manual (non- mechanical) methods.

4Personal protection equipment appropriate to the task is selected and used in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.

Elements and performance criteria

Element 1

Locate position of, and install, primary and intermediate posts for fencing.

Performance criteria

1.1Primary and intermediate post positions are identified in relation to terrain and fence design.

1.2Primary posts are installed plumb, in line, to fence design height, and must bisect contour angle.

1.3Rise posts are installed up to 25mm above fence design height, bisecting contour angle.

1.4Footed posts are footed according to soil type and final fence loading, and installed up to 25mm below fence design height, bisecting contour angle.

1.5All posts are installed to fence design height, rammed firmly in line with minimal wire clearance, bisecting contour angle.
